dude if you read my first thing it just says Iowa State needs a big man... and then someone said it wouldn't fit with our new style we need someone who can run.. so I added saying fine a big man that can run... Me personally I would love a big man like Shaq, or Cole Aldrich, or another Jared Homan

We don't need somebody who can run. You're completely missing that point. If you have good guards, they'll do the running. Cole Aldrich can't run the floor to save his ***, but he was PERFECT for Kansas because he played damn good defense, and he swat a ******** of shots. He wasn't going to light up the scoreboard, but he was going to get his buckets and put backs.

Again Like I said "I never said we need a big man who can run"... Right now name the Iowa State starting 5 who do you have in the post?? and who do you have replacing them if one of the post players gets in foul trouble

1. DG
2. Phillips
3. Christopherson/Anderson
4. Ejim
5. Depends on who the other team plays: Aldrich type (just big, not ridiculously athletic) -> JVB Pittman type (big and athletic)-> Godfrey

Rotate your big men and figure out with JVB, Godfrey, McKnight, and Railey where your matchups are. JVB will get abused defensively by a big guy, but he's going to be open all night offensively.

You can overcome size by
a) playing smart
b) solid defense by your guards
c) getting position

I guess Iowa State doesn't need any post help at all I mean our guards have been dominate the past 4 seasons. Actually I can't even name a good guard besides Mike Taylor

Who was the last kid at, let's say, Michigan State who was a 6'10" world beater?

I could be wrong, but I'm sure that's going to be a tough find. They get it done with quick *** guards and some pipe-hitting 6'7", 6'8", 6'9" guys who play/rebound above the rim.

If I had to choose, I'd take a 6'8" nasty who can run the floor over a 6'10" "true post" all day long.

If a guys 6'8" and has a large frame he can be just as effective as a 6'11" guy. I'd be more worried about the fact that outside of DG, JVB and Scotty we have a team full of ?s.

I swear at the SC tailgate that Hoiberg mentioned he was going after some 6'10 guy in Europe. I could be wrong.

Several things here:

-Michael Beasley is 6'7"-6'8" tops
-Just like in football, rosters never tell the truth. Everyone is taller and weighs more
-FH said he wanted to run up tempo, but we've yet to see a game he's coached, so let's not assume we're going to be running the Mike D'Antoni offense here
-Size only matters when it's combined with effort and skill (that's what she said). Size can be neutralized with positioning and effort. For crying out loud, a 6'5" Charles Barkley is one of the better rebounders that has ever played.
-This has been mentioned, but Dendy had virtually no basketball IQ, but he was an athlete and was somebody that other teams would have marked in the scouting reports for the upcoming season. Can't speak to his off court or practice issues, but I would feel a little bit better about the upcoming season if he was still on the team.
