Hoo, boy. I'm still too rattled by last year's opener against UNI to even attempt making a prediction here. When was the last time ISU won an opener without much trouble? And when was the last time we lost an opener? FSU in '02?
Cody Green barely won in OT in Ames with a much more talented Nebraska team and you think he's going to lead Tulsa to a win in Ames against an ISU team that was better than the one he faced in 2010?
I think Chizik lost to Kent State in his opener.
I didn't realize that only Iowa State's football team was allowed to improve. I suppose it is preposterous to think that an individual could have improved over 2 years, also.
Of course he can improve, but are you really suggesting that Tulsa in 2012 is equal to Nebraska in 2010? I was more commenting on the fact that he barely got it done with a team full of talent. Now he is on a team with less talent (than 2010 Nebraska) and will be required to carry the team more.
But of course you probably knew that and were just trolling (weakly) as usual.
Sure, he has less talent around him. But I am sure he has matured and is much more talented himself. The Nebraska coaching staff obviously didn't trust Green enough to put the game in his hands against Iowa State. But then again, they didn't have to. They assumed (correctly) that they could beat Iowa State by simply feeding the ball to Burkhead and Helu.
You don't think that with two years to improve he can be capable of carrying an offense? There is a reason he was a top 200 player; he has an incredible amount of talent. He struggled to put everything together at Nebraska, but they haven't exactly been a quarterback factory under Pelini.
I'm just saying that writing off Green (and by extension Tulsa) just because of the way he played in one game as a sophomore (in extremely windy conditions, IIRC) is asinine.
Looks like you guys are dogs to Tulsa at home from Vegas. So, idk, about the 50-0 blow out scenarios.
