And I would bet you the Dodgers easily made more money if you compared their financials. Attendance is not the only thing that drives revenue
You would bet? Clearly mlb makes about 100 times the revenue of mls teams. No one is debating that.

It’s great to have more sports entertainment options in dsm. Can’t wait to take my family.

This actually makes my point. Soccer fans are so in your face about 'you should like the world's game!' to a level where I don't see any fans of hockey, lacrosse, or other sports do this ever - anywhere. Why do soccer fans do this?

Soccer in Iowa (i'm sorry) is like putting a vegan grocery store in Lincoln Nebraska. It's forcing it.
You could make almost the exact same argument about the anti-soccer folks.

Not saying this development is a bad thing. But, your attendance comparison is comparing 162 games/year versus 34 matches/year.

In any event, why does soccer versus baseball versus basketball always have to turn into a pissing contest? Can't we all like multiple sports and/or let people enjoy their own preferences? Any active team sport is a lot better than the real future of our children -- e-sports.
I like e-sports

The DICO site where this is being built has limited uses due to it being an EPA site.. So I'm ok with my tax dollars cleaning up a massive eyesore for our capital city.

The surrounding development plans that Kyle Krause has proposed is quite spectacular. If 75% of it gets built. This is a massive win in my book
I'm not ok with my tax $$$$ be blown in a pipe dream 150 miles away.

We literally looked at case studies about it in a sports & politics class at Iowa State. It’s not unfounded accusations lol
Glad you have theory. Some of us have real world.

do you know what case studies are?
Do you know what it means to have money at risk?

You have made an accusation you are unable To substantiate. Prove misrepresentation or move on.

Post #69. These things always over promise and under deliver. I’m fine if people want this but let’s just be honest about it.

As far as baseball v. Soccer my kids play both. The odds of me going to an i Cubs game or a game at this stadium are extremely low. Again it all just depends on the person.

Sure, the leagues have different history. So what? The question is how will a AAA soccer team draw in Des Moinew. I would guess quite a bit less than AAA baseball draws in Des Moines.

And the attendance numbers certainly don't back up MLS anywhere close to MLB at this point. From Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Soccer_attendance

For 2019 MLB was drawing 28k per game to 21k for MLS. But when you look at the number of teams and games that gap explodes with total annual attendance of 68M for MLB to 8M for MLS. Attendance was down slightly for both leagues over the prior year.
Here is the thing. AAA baseball is nothing more than a farm system for MLB. People go to their games to go to a baseball game. They don't care about the actual success of the team because frankly the team doesn't care about the success. That isn't how soccer operates even as poorly as US soccer is set up. Professional soccer isn't going to follow the same path and equal out to the NBA or NFL. It will have it's niche market that likely focuses on smaller cities.

People are saying this is a bad thing because it won't be something they like or comparable to the 2 biggest sports in the country. That isn't the bar for success. The bar for success is will this improve the site it is going to be built on. Currently it is a giant pile of **** so the bar isn't exactly high.
