I know it, but they had Robinson returning. They don't return any experienced impact rebound/scorers and their guards left much to be desired. Tharpe is talented but has no experience, and the other guys are simply not at the level of Taylor.

Then again, Bill Self has made a career out of proving everything I just said wrong. We'll see.

He always has that next perimeter guy ready to go.
Someway, somehow, they'll be very good. So will we, but KU will be the preseason pick.

We'll hate it. We will complain a ton. I'll join in. Then we'll break their stranglehold on the title, because that's how we roll.

I think that Texas will probably be preseason #1 in the Big 12 next year if J'Covan Brown is back. They have a really good freshman class playing this year that should take a big step next year, and a big C stud coming in.

Writers haven't shied from moving Kansas down before -- they've just always been wrong. I'd guess:

Texas
Kansas
Iowa State
Kansas State
Oklahoma State, Baylor, WV

Damn...tough conference next year

If I'm not mistaken up until this year Thomas Robinson was coming off the bench with the Morris twins starting.

He didnt become huge until this year.

Ill just make it simple. Self will find a way to put a top 3 XII team on the floor. This is why he is at KU....
Correct. Robinson was a bench player.

So imagine next year if Gibson or Booker turned into a leading National Player of the Year candidate. That is what Self has done. Really amazing.

Except Thomas Robinson averaged 7.6 points and 6.4 rebounds off the bench in 14 minutes!! Yeah, I'm guessing that's about what Jeff Withey is averaging right now while playing like 25 mins a night. Everyone knew he would be crazy good. NTM he was backing up 2 dominate post players in the big 12, the Morris twins.

Okie State will improve greatly by subtracting the midget that jacks up threes.

I also will make the assumption that Cezar will leave for division 2, where he belongs.

I heard they have one of the top point guards in the nation coming in. Just what the doctor ordered for them.

Kansas is reloading with All Americans, they are still in the hunt for a couple 4 and 5 Star caliber guys for next year. Also word is Self is highly disappointed in Tharpe.

Also Kansas no doubt will be picked to win, they will have to be beat before they fall from the pedestal.

Kansas will have a lot of new guys next year but I would bet that by the end of the year they will be contending for the big 12 championship. Kstate will be good, Texas will be good, Baylor will be good. Okie State has some young talent and a good recruiting class coming in. I think the Big 12 is going to be really tough next year. This year it was more top heavy but next year it is going to be full of good teams.

KU is the top dog until someone knocks them off. Do I think we can do it? Yes, but they'll be the favorite.

Plus even teams like OU and TT return nearly everyone (and have great coaches). The Big 12 will be better top to bottom next year. If White returns, we will have the talent to compete with anyone....but we did this year as too, and just got off the bubble. Better toughness and luck will be needed.

Regardless of how the grueling Big 12 turns out, we will have a team capable of going deep into the NCAA tournament. Fred is building something special.

i predict 38-2 with a national championship. we will lose a couple tough ones on the road in conference and that is it.

I'm going to say they will get picked 4th in the conference. Behind KU, Texas, and probably Baylor or K-State.

Part of that was a pretty lackluster set of noncon results. If we'd come into conference without the drake\uni losses (and without the michigan game being as lopsided) people probably wouldve jumped on board a bit quicker.

Take care of business in the noncon and we'll be past the bubble a bit quicker.

KU loses Taylor and Robinson (likely).

Withey, Releford, and Johnson return.
Tharpe/ PG is a big question mark
McLemore could hit the ground running - I've heard he is one of the most impressive individuals on the team during practice.
Jakarr Sampson and Shabazz Muhammed (both '12s) visited for the Mizzou game. Both of those guys could start wherever they commit.

I will be absolutely shocked if we are picked to finish in the top half next year. We won't get picked to finish in the bottom 3 again, but I can easily see KU, KSU, Baylor, Texas, WVU -- maybe even OSU -- being picked ahead of us.

Dang...totally forgot about WVU and TCU for next year...somehow in my mind that was only in football...OOPS! :twitcy:

I think our preseason rank in the XII will depend on our run in the tourney...obviously. Still, due to lack of respect overall, nobody will pick us to finish any higher than 4th. I contend that we will have a chance to win it all (a very good chance) but the breakdown will go something like this:

Kansas
Purple Kansas
Texas
Baylor
ISU
Okie Light
Oklahoma
WVU
Texas Tech
TCU

This is all a BIT silly, since we're guessing what everyone's guesses will be for next year before this year has even ended...when we go deep in the tournament, that will of course change things!

Go Cyclones!

For everyone claiming that KU will be picked first next year because they have won it 8 years in a row, I'm pretty sure that aTm was the pick to win it this year.
