IIRC he actually did a Floyd-era taking the coat off and actually yelling.

He'd dropped the last 5 games to KU and it felt like it was now or never to put a stop to it.

Would have to look it up. ISU ended up pulling away to win that game and I remember thinking the players probably had no other choice if FRED went crazy, ha ha.

He yelled after he got the T. You can actually read his lips as he yells "It was a timeout!"

I like Prohm's demeanor. I get the Johnny, Larry references, but I don't like a loudmouthed blowhard like our enemies to the east have.

Can you imagine what Mad Fran would do if he got the wrong salad dressing at a restaurant? Or his wife folded his socks wrong?

Gotcha. About the 33:45 mark. I had my beer goggles on so don't remember it that well I guess. :)

Also some clips from the players talking about it.

That team was really, really versatile.

Not really. He got a T last night for being out of control, and almost got 2. Perfect example.
Do you actually watch the opposing coaches? Underwood has been one of the calmest coaches all year. I'd rank them:
  1. Prohm
  2. Beard
  3. Smart
  4. Underwood
  5. Kruger
  6. Drew
  7. Self
  8. Weber
  9. Dixon
  10. Huggins

I think Mrs. Mad Fran might stick his socks where the sun don't shine if he gives her any of his BS.

I agree, Prohm definitely doesn't lack emotion. There was a moment last night, I believe in the 2nd half, where he was emphatically jumping up and down on the sideline with his arms raised, then turned around and gave a big fist pump. It was right after we hit a big shot, but I couldn't tell if he was excited or if he was trying to get someone's attention and then was mad when he couldn't. My buddy and I both saw it and commented on how animated he was. Loved seeing that kind of passion out of Prohm.

Announcers on TV seemed to think that he wanted a time out before OSU inbounded and didn't get it.

He would go all "Ken Trickey" on them.

Matt also said he goes through 2-3 chapsticks a day so maybe they have a sedative effect.;)

He somehow kept his emotions in check for senior speeches, although he was choked up talking about Deonte. I was weeping from Deonte on out.
There was a funny little back & forth between him & Deonte; I'm not sure if it showed on TV. Prohm started with some variation of "there are a couple of guys who never met a shot they didn't like" and Deonte had hopped off the scorer's table and was halfway onto the court before Prohm finished the sentence. Prohm then continued "see, he already knows..." and then pushed him toward the sidelines while saying "I got something nice to say about you first".

Got a good laugh out of the crowd.

I remember Pollard saying when Fred left that he met with the team, and that they had two requests for him when picking their next leader...

(1.) similar style of play -- ISU has an identity now, particularly on offense, of being aggressive on the break and emphasizing motion and outside shooting

(2.) similar personality to Fred... to summarize it, "no screamers"

Seems we got exactly that, if not more than that, in Prohm. He has meshed with Fred's guys the last two years, getting more out of Nader and Thomas than Fred ever did, and seems to be poised to keep it rolling while bringing his own guys in next year.

Last night was the first time in a long time that I really didn't doubt we were going to win the game. Just watching those seniors, how they went about their business, gave me that confidence. Even after the Cowgirls closed the gap, I still felt we had a run left in us, that they weren't about to let the other team spoil their night. And this goes hand in hand with Prohm's demeanor.

I think his style will pay off in the future when he is an established coach in the Big XII. Once officials are used to him being fair and not to berate them, he may get favorable calls.

I just don't think this is true. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I don't doubt that officials will respect him more than whiners, but I don't think that will equate to favorable calls.

You don't have to lose your mind over every call, but he doesn't even seem to point some out. Although I thought he did a really good job on that last night.

Yeah, i certainly dont want someone who is batshit, but i think at times, working the refs a bti more might do some good. You can tell that it works with some of the other coaches.

I wouldn't call Underwood calm but he is not a raving lunatic. Last night was the first time he got technical all season, so it surprised me - definitely don't think he was wanting one.

Ah yes Kane getting hammered like usual and no call. That guy got foulded constantly but didn't get the calls. Kind of like Burton because they are both so strong that people can't put a body on them.
