You're right on with the experience angle - Brock's shortcomings were a lot less of a mystery than a similar player that maybe only started a year or two.

"Potential" always sneaks into draft selections in any pro league. If a prospects meets certain physical characteristics, there's the possibility they can coach him up on mechanics, heart, leadership, etc. Meanwhile, no amount of technique or training is going to make a guy 4" taller.
I think the Jets are finding this the hard way with Zach Wilson who had one huge year at BYU. Everyone is searching for the next Mahomes. Reality is there’s probably 5 of them in the whole world.

Makes you wonder how much of this process contributed to S&C changes. Seems like we could have been better in targeting workouts per position. Arm strength was always a question with him, and that, along with mechanics, didn't really change much year to year.

Brock's experience bit him a little bit in the draft process. There was sooo much tape to dissect, the harder you look the more you'll find. The knocks on him are fair. Not great size, average arm, not overly athletic, can make dumb decision from time to time. That doesn't take into account a guy who led a historically bad program to 4 straight bowls, NY6 win, first conf championship appearance and rewrote basically every school record possible. Things they can't measure - heart, leadership, moxie - Brock has a ton of. Give me a Brock Purdy 10/10 over a Drew Lock type who has all the tools, but not "it".
Key word there is ‘heart.’
