Campbell went up to the press box (coaches box?) after halftime to call plays - Is that something typical that he does or was he just experimenting around for the spring game?

Actually, he spent at least part of the third quarter with John and Eric on the radio broadcast.

No, and no experimenting. He will be on the sideline 100% of the time.

Was this UGLY or did I not have enuf beers?

Offense was complete vanilla..wind wasn't great and defense dominated basically which it should im spring...they moved a lot of kids around on Oline a ton..no continuity..none..they wanted to study film from today and they didn't care about the score honestly..what was encouraging to me as I drove up from Texas to be with family but also to hang out for a spring game was th defense tackled a lot better compared to last year..DBs were right there in WR grill on nearly every pass play..Payne is gong to be very good..Safeties played well too. Overall I just felt the defense on both sides **** it down...and Lazard and Warren didn't play...basically our two best offensive players...so....

The defense should always be ahead of the offense this time of the year. Not to mention it was a team split in half and a lot of guys who won't be playing, playing.

New staff, new scheme, vanilla play calling trying to see who can do what. It's Spring.

I feel better about JL at QB. He dialed it up later in the game when they wanted to score. He has command of the team. If Parks does take the job away from JL the team will be in a very good spot. I don't see it happening though.

It was a spring game. If it's pretty, that's bad for someone and judging by the general populations opinion on football, it's probably really bad for the defense.

Yeah, I've learned over the years that it's not a good sign when the Euseph Messiahs of the world are tearing up your 1st and 2nd team defense. I'll take 10-6.

Did he extend a walk-on spot to the kid who dove for the shanked punt during halftime? Kids got what it takes.

Not exactly sure.
For sake of comparison. Chizek's offenses looked good at the spring game. We know how those years turned out.

Did Payne play today? I spent a good chunk of the day looking for him but could never find him.

I have high hopes for him and really wanted to see him play.

Campbell said the last 5 centers he has coached have played in the NFL. Is that true? If so, that is amazing.

Our OL is likely not going to be very good this year, and that's too bad because the rest of the team could be halfway decent.

But with a struggling OL, we are going to have difficulty winning any more games than last year. I just hope that people aren't overly critical of this coaching staff if we don't show a lot of improvement in the W-L column this first season because success is going to take some time.... but this is CF so I'm imagining we'll be seeing a few people calling for Campbell's head halfway through this first year.

The fact we don't have anyone in our top 3 centers who has ever snapped the ball before is downright scary folks. And the top 2 guys right now are both RS Freshmen. And at tackle we have Campos, Philbert, and Curtis and that's basically it.... and Campos isn't even healthy. CW was dead on about this OL being a huge issue this year.

It was impossible to even tell if Zeb Noland was good or not.... he never had more than about a half second before he was sacked it seemed.

If Campbell and the coaching staff and assemble some sort of OL and have them playing even close to average as a unit by the time the season starts, it will be a miracle.
