redshirting in basketball is virtually unheard of nowa days.

unless its a medical redshirt
Creighton redshirts a player or two a year so it’s not uncommon there. I have often wondered how they get the player to buy-in on redshirting as they player generally thinks they are good enough to play. For example, Creighton redshirted Mason Miller two years ago. He is now a freshman. Miller was a four-star recruit and the #74 player in the country per 24/7.

I remember Naz Mitou Long as a Freshman and didn’t really play a whole lot, however, put the work in and became a darn good player. I fully expect the same for King.

Grill is coming back shoot! I lost respect for him with the way he handled himself at the end of the Oklahoma State game! If he can’t make a basket he’s a liability! They say his defense is good I don’t see that his man gets open a lot! TJ must’ve been a little bit mad too since he didn’t start and only played 12 minutes!
Could TJ have been disappointed in Grill's reaction against OSU? Sure.

But IMO TJ started Kunc because he was ready after returning form injury. Remember at the beginning of the year Kunc was a starter and Kalscheur came off the bench. Just logical that when Kunc was ready, he would return to the starting lineup.

Then the question becomes- who starts Kalscheur or Grill. IMO with Grill's back injury that made TJ's decision easy since it's best to limit Grill's minutes to help him heal.

Against TCU Grilled played around 9 minutes in the first half and came in at the 16 minute TO in the 2nd half and played around 3 minutes. He missed back-to-back 3 pt shots and could be TJ saw that as a sign Caleb's back was bothering him, so he took Caleb out. TJ put him back in around the 6 minute mark and Caleb missed a free throw and TJ took him out after playing around 30 seconds. That sounds like TJ is concerned about Caleb's back vs. being "mad".

The check still clears, whether you are on the court or not

He didn’t get screwed. Can you name a basketball player who redshirted for a reason other than being a transfer, an injury, or not being qualified academically? Redshirting just because you aren’t good enough to play rarely happens in basketball.
Wasn't this basically Naz's first year?

Not exactly sure.

Thinking about the rotations though, I think the lineups should be changed up a bit. Right now we put in grill, Rob and I believe Tre 3 minutes in. We sub in 3 guys struggling to score for 3 that are options. Grill was an option early but he reverted to last years form of no longer driving after he got hurt. Osun seems to get a couple quick fouls, let Rob get them and put O in at 3-4 minutes then. Refs like to hit us early and then calm down a bit. Or start small with Tre and see if we can up tempo to confuse them.

Basically try to mix it up because what we are doing is giving us the same results lately.

The Book of Eli has already been written...at least the Iowa State chapter.

Too many folks got duped by some highlight tapes against inferior competition. There will never be a big 12 scouting report on him that read's "beware of his athleticism". In fact, I think it would say the opposite, in that teams think they could go at him.

Seems like a great teammate, I hope he finds a role.
He looked as athletic as anyone on the floor when he carried his team to victory against Watson's Totino-Grace team.

Doubt it, but who knows. Don’t think he’s ready yet.
Probably true. If he is ready then its because he has worked hard, not dropped his chin, and made practice time really count,.... because when he appeared those few times during non-conference he looked a level below the other players, imo. And I'm not even referring to shooting ability. Hope he can show that improvement and he makes the most of it if he gets a chance.
