Does the staff not feel good about Ejim and Barnes? I mean with Gilstrap here for a year it seems odd to take a flyer on such an unknown guy, and especially one that will obviously need to develop a ton.

Develop or put on weight? He seems pretty athletic to me. Good shooter and loves to dunk.

He is a really really good athlete and has a good jumper. Of course strenth will be an issue with him.

Question now is does he redshirt? We have Gilstrap for a year at the 3

I like his story. He had some very nice stats in the state tourney agaist some good competition. Mad. Memorial has talented Marq. and Wisc. recruits.

Hopefully he can bulk up over the next few years and be an impact player in 2011 or so. At least that's what I would hope from my vantage point.

Both, I assume since it was down to us and JUCO's. If he was good enough other teams would be looking at dispite grade issues.

I wouldn't assume that. Depth is always an issue. Even making the assumption that we will have Gilstrap starting at the 3 next year and Barnes or Ejim the year after that, it never hurts to have an athletic backup. Who knows, maybe he really will turn into a Wes Johnson type of player.

The only reason I say that is b/c he plays the same position AND it appears (and I could be wrong) that we took a pass on Moore who was his good buddy.

I certainly believe so. He's gotten in on some really good talent very early in the game. We haven't landed all of them, but we came calling long before other schools showed up in many cases. I think there is really good talent on our current team, but it's been a case of inexperienced talent that has taken time to gel. I think we are on our way to near-perennial status in the tournament.
