I am from near Algona and Mayor Kueck will have a lot of activities in Algona that day. I might ride Spencer to Clear Lake. Would think Clear Lake would be fun that time of the year also.

Smaller ride this year since they are banning non-American bikes. Only a handful of custom premium road bikes and decades old Huffy's will pass the "America First" inspection.

anyone ever "bag it out"?

I am considering carrying my gear with and camping wherever i want in a cornfield or yard or forest along the way. Just go full hobo/wanderer/grunge/off the grid.

Have heard this is an interesting subculture inside Ragbrai

Algona and Clear Lake have done phenomenal in the past so it's not surprising they got it back. If you've never partied in Waukon before, get ready. No jimlad. Country, hard working, beer drinking people.

Isn't the climb on that last day going to be brutal?

Same with Cresco and Lansing. Those last three stops will be clinics in Northeast Iowa beer drinking.

I'm curious how they're going to get 40 miles out of Waukon to Lansing. Guessing maybe they'll come through Harper's Ferry and Waterville or something.

Do they do county roads as much as possible or do they not worry about using state roads? They could do Hwy 76 to Waterville (or down through Yellow River or through Waukon Junction), then Harpers Ferry and Lansing. They could also just take the Elon Road then loop through Harpers to Lansing. Any of those routes leaves a pretty healthy climb from Harpers to Lansing.

The more I think about it they might take 76 North out of Waukon down to the Upper Iowa Road then head over toward New Albin and to Lansing from there. For the sake of the riders I'd hope they'd use the Elon Road somehow. That's some of prettiest country some of these people will ever see but 76 north would probably be the easiest and that's beautiful as well. Can't go wrong in that neck of the woods.

I am kind of hoping they go north out of Waukon to New Albin and work back down to Lansing from there. That ride from Waukon to New Albin would be awesome.

I think this it the best route I"ve seen in a long time. And a good response to last years route being so difficult. We had 4,000 feet of climb days last year. Not the smallest towns. Nor large towns. I think that works best. I like being able to bike or walk to the entertainment.

Can't wait.

Tons of my friends do, where are you from? Its like ants riding towards the beginning as you get closer there are more & more friends you meet up with and the excitement level continues to grow. Its lots more work but you get more options...
