The ghost of Al Davis still haunts the Raiders. They have a roster full of high priced guys that used to be pro bowlers but are way past their prime. They are still suffering form a lack of draft picks that Al traded for.

I'd say the current woes are not caused by the coach but by the head office.

Heck, they paid Jarmacus Russell $7M this summer. Anyone remember him ? Anyone?

The employees at In and Out prolly do.

They're screwed until the stadium issues get resolved. They have no money and can't generate any in the terrible building they're playing in. They'll end up moving back to LA into an NFL financed stadium, part of that deal will be Mark Davis selling the team for an obscene amount of money. They'll be immediately successful as soon as that happens and they can actually hire a real scouting department.

For the life of me, I can't understand why they didn't go in with the 49ers to build a new stadium together in Santa Clara, rather than it being a 49ers only building.

Does the NFL want them in LA? They are a mess from the top down. The ownership isn't going to change. For a team to be in LA the NFL needs to find an owner that is willing to spend the money needed to win. Having a ****** in team in LA is worse than having no team at all. The fans there will only support a winner.

The NFL doesn't want Davis in Oakland, LA, London or within 1000 ft of any NFL stadium.

What's interesting is the NFL sounds ready to get into the stadium business here. The Raiders have a rabid fan base in LA (somehow)

But I can't imagine the league going into business with young Davis.

How 1994 will it be when the Rams and Raiders (sans Davis) are playing ball in LA again

The NFL needs the raiders to be successful. They are one of the most historicaly significant teams in the NFL. I think the Leauge should take over the team.

You're right, the league has really struggled ever since the last good Raiders team in 2002. They've fallen way behind the other pro sports leagues, hopefully once the Raiders return to glory the league will be able to turn a profit again.

They should just go ahead and fire the next coach at his hiring press conference and save the time.

They should revolutionize the hiring process and offer 4 game contracts. Then they have the option to renew after each quarter of the season!

You can't achieve any sort of stability when you are constantly switching.
Yup. Remember when so many wanted the Steelers to fire Cowher? That org stuck with him and all they've done for the last decade plus is be a playoff contender almost every year with some titles.

Al Davis was delusional in his final years and thought you could still run behind the defense and throw it up on every play but if it weren't for Mr. Davis the NFL would not be what it is today. He was the commissioner of the AFL that set the merger in motion.

It's a shame to see where they have gone the last decade and a half and Davis fighting the NFL his whole career probably does not help where they stand with the league in a business sense. Hope we can turn it around but it's hard to envision unless we get Chucky back. (at least that's my pipe dream)

I know Gruden's a popular pick, but are you really sure he's that good a coach anymore? Over a decade since he won a Super Bowl and five years away from the sidelines. That's a long time to be away from the profession. For what he's going to want - big money and total control over personnel - I'm not sure that's the right direction in the long run. Look at what's going on with the Patriots where Belichick has too much say over the roster and personnel. Or look how Holmgren and Shanahan both flamed out trying to be both the head coach and GM.

Raiders are a tire fire. Chucky is smart enough to keep his cushy gig on MNF.
