We need him to start at the five and it will make a world of difference.

Ha wow this is great.

5 weeks ago Railey is garbage. Today after we had no help defense down low, we really miss Railey. Interesting.......

That is what I thought too. When I pointed out that we will miss Raileys post D and his toughness I was ridiculed. Now look who was right

I hope he starts over scotty and I hope McGee plays point. I'm on a McGee love fest, and I also am liking Babb (the guido sensation).

To be fair, Scotty could be playing like the above mention players if given his SG spot back. I'm not sure Railey is ready yet.

Yeah not ragging on scott, just saying he's not a point guard so it's hard for him to play like one.

The fact that we are clamoring for Railey to get back and there are multiple pages about Naz starting when he get here in the 2nd semester is all you need to know about what we've seen so far.

Well, we did miss that. We also missed his 9.9 fouls/40 minutes and 40% FG shooting.

It will be interesting to see what kind of time Railey gets. He's our tallest player by far, and by that alone, will help our defense.

I would much rather have his fouls he get while contesting shots than charging fouls by some other players.

Whaaat? You'd rather have a stupid foul (Railey is automatic for 3 of these per night) than an aggressive foul going to the bucket?

Railey will swat some shots, but he gets abused just as much if not more because he's so ungodly slow. Unless something has changed, he also has no clue how you rotate.

And I also fail to understand why everything thinks you need a goon on the floor. Seems to have worked alright not having an insanely tall dude starting for aTm or Missouri the last few years. Doesn't matter how tall you are if your defensive positioning sucks, and ours definitely sucks in most cases. One player isn't going to do anything close to fixing Iowa State's defense, especially when said play is slow, soft, and gets called for awful fouls because he's out of position or late to help.

You can be aggressive going to the baskrt and not foul Stinson did it all the time. Im not sure I get all the Railey hate sure he is not a great player but he is not a bum neither. He has a nice midrange shot, is big enough not to get pushed around in the post, He is good for one or two blocks a game, was only a freshman last season, and will rebound the ball. Also I want to know when he played soft the games I watched I never seen him backdown from anyone. Will he start for us? No we dont need him to and he wont because he is not starter quality but he is good enough to come off the bench and do some things asked of him. That is what he will do the whole time he is at ISU.

Agree, that was actually one thing I liked about Railey last year since our other 6'10" guy was such a Nancy. He would man up on anyone. It was obvious he didn't have the technique/footwork, etc to stop a lot of the big 12 elite but the dude isn't soft.

Keep in mind he has had a whole off-season to work on conditioning, strength and technique on the block. Let's reserve judgement of his sophomore year until after he actually starts it.

Also, consider in practice he has probably been trying to guard Royce White so that would help improve his defensive abilities considering he won't play against many that are better.

I would love to see this team press all game long with Railey at the back end of the press and Booker when Railey gets too many fouls. The press would increase the defensive intensity and we have the players to do it.
