Wow, I know right where you are talking, we used to live in that area (last house)...and while I was wasting time until it was time to pick up oldest at a b-day party, we drove by our old house.

So, depending on when you got there, we were pretty darn close.

Dang...so close 00! We were there from 2:20-4:30.

Pantsy- congrats! Just wait to exercise that alpha male status at the next company meeting!

So every morning my boss and his boss do a group conference call with myself and all of my peers going over our previous day results (I hate conference calls like this because it's a waste of time, in my opinion).

Anyway, to try to shake things up, he's had some of the veteran peers lead the call and it's been....interesting, to say the least.

Today he had Pantsy, the new(er) guy lead the call.

Later two peers, my boss and his boss have all called me and told me what an amazing job I did, and how I didn't back down when my peers that had a bad day tried to give canned answers to questions and etc.

It seemed all pretty basic to me, yet somehow it wowed everyone? It kind of worries me for everyone else.

Also, I think I just became the alpha of my group.

I don't mean this in the cocky Pantsy way, but I tend to be a natural leader. It generally doesn't take me long to be that person in a group, especially when I'm a very A-type personality and few else among my peers are (which amazes me anywy how so many managers at this level can NOT be A-type personalities.)

Oh, I didn't take it as a cocky way, that was a cool beaker.

I have some leader tendencies as well, and although I've stepped back from formal leadership, it's funny how much I congregate more often with the leaders in our team, speak to them as peers (even my boss, thankfully, we've got a long history together), and act in meetings as a leader, still.

It's probably 100 percent beard for you though.

couple on Wheel of Fortune just said their hobbies include cheering on their Jayhawks and then said "Rock Chalk".

Wearing blue and gray. I hope they lose.

In my interview yesterday they asked where I usually fit in a group. My answer was essentially "trying to lead engineers is like herding cat's. You do your best to keep them on task and focused." They laughed so I hope that was good.

The female didn't say "cheering on our Jayhawks!" in that cheerleader, sing-songy way, did she? *shudder*

Boo that couple.
