I'm seriously thinking about making that top 25 dumb threads thing a reality. Would that be something that would get me banned?
I think you should just do a top 10 instead of a top 25. 25 just seems like too many.

2014 top baby names list is out. No, I always like to read this, no announcement from me. All the names are really nice. If they continue in popularity, my kids will have well-named classmates. So many classic and pretty names. And only one of "my" names is in the list. Well, DH's girl choice is in the top ten but we're not doing that.

I also wonder how many of the RT haters who snipe about it being all girl talk assume that because of my talking about cooking and baking and kiddo stuff that I'm a sissy or effeminate man. When in fact, I probably have a more 'traditionally manly' job than most, and in the RT dark hours I was enjoying watching a video of the first firing of a 100 year old Fiat 28.5 liter (well, it's a Fiat, I suppose I should say litre) engine. (and no, that's not a typo, 28.5 liter, my cars have 2.0 and 3.5 liter)

*and yes, KC, when I give Papalew crap about sewing, I'm just kidding.

Not worried in the slightest. He's a renaissance man...but if you spend any time with him you'll know there isn't an effeminate bone in his body. He simply doesn't care if certain tasks are considered "gender specific". It's one of the things I love about him...that he's comfortable doing whatever he wants, regardless of public opinion.

Speaking of which...I mentioned my brother in law (wife's sister's husband) over the weekend...he's a piece of work on this stuff. He was trying to make my wife feel bad for not being the cook in the house one time, and he said..."double ought...you cook? that's woman's work!" I responded that "Well, that's true, but I like good food, and I figure that anything any woman can do, I can do better!" I kind of locked him up for a bit there, because his sexist mind was conflicted on agreeing with the second part without admitting that it blew up his gender roles concept as well.

Same family...wife's sister stayed home with the kids, neither she nor my wife are very 'career' driven...they like having a job, but don't draw their value from it. Their kids are now 13 and 11, so they're in school most of the day, but she's still playing chauffeur for the 17 after school activities, and she does have a very part time job. Anyway, the 13 YO started talking about money, and how it was BIL's money because he was the only one that worked, and that all she did was sit around watching TV all day. I honestly had to hold myself, because we've been around them long enough that I just have to not start the fights...it's my wife's family, and even though she won't jump in, I end up the bad guy when I do....but I'm sitting there thinking "Either of my boys talks like that to my wife, and they will get a cuff on the back of the head and they'll be eating rice and beans for a week and walking their spoiled ***** to school....where the heck do they think they can get away talking like this?" Yeah, about an hour later, BIL comes up and starts saying the same ****....guess that's where. When the kids get out of school, I'll honestly be surprised if she doesn't ditch his butt and take half of his stuff.

Which is another reason I love my man. He respects me, and is proud of me for who I am, not who I am "supposed" to be. I spent 16 years in a marriage like that, and it took me a long time to realize I was better than that, and that I could stand on my own two feet. I appreciate the fact that PapaLew & I are truly partners, each with our own strengths and contributions.
