Banjo, not sure how long you've been in DBQ, but if you haven't...some Friday this fall when the leaves are turning, take that bike to work and head north on 52, turn off on Sherrill road in Sageville, head up to Balltown. Eat dinner at Breitbach's. Cruise north thru Buenie, hit 52 southbound again near Millville. Go straight thru Luxemburg, stay on that to Dyersville. Take 20 back to Dubuque, or keep going south thru Worthington and pick up 151 in Cascade. Nice short ride, the leaves are glorious around there.

Oh definitely, been in DBQ about 4.5 years, and I always make sure to make that ride once or twice a year. Last year we took the river road up to Prairie Du Chein, then came back on the WI side down through Potosi, hoping to do that again yet this year.

we have a wedding there the 17 of Oct and I thought about taking Friday or Sunday to do some of that pretty driving. And eat at Vinny's. Thought about going to Galena but not sure we will. Suppose I could take Friday for that.

I'm in a horrible position at work where I'm in between projects, everyone is super busy and I have next to nothing that needs to be done. Tried asking around, but nobody seems to need help with anything. Should be an interesting timesheet when I have to bill my hours somewhere. I've tried rearranging my office, cleaning up my email and I'm out of ideas. Any help?

Research for the new project?

Did you stop at the brewery in Potosi? Need to get some saddlebags on that thing, grab a couple growlers and haul them home.

Indeed we did. Pretty good beer, and pretty darn good pub food as well. I've been partial to their summer Tangerine IPA lately.

There's also a shooting range just down the road from there that we frequent. It's always nice to go sling some lead, then head down the street for refreshments.

Nope - originally from Freeport, IL, but went to HS in Gilbert, just north of Ames. And yes, have been to Vinny's multiple times - love it!

Who was the person from IL you knew in Aero? If he shared initials with our head FB coach (PR), then I believe I know who that is.

My baby brother graduated in Aero E, I think that would have been '10.

hey I grew up about 20 miles west of Freeport!

Boy, I think his first name was a P, but I can't remember for sure. He was from the Rockford area. Had him in honors English and he screwed up our group project. Big tall guy, curlyish hair. That's pretty much all I remember.

That would describe my brother as well, but not from IL and his initials are AB.

Interesting - there's a good chance I know that person. Small world! I routinely get back to that area as I have family in Dakota, Freeport, and Byron.

I found the graduation thingy, PR, sounds about right. Cool.

My favorite relatives live in the Dakota area.

Popular area, I guess... my parents grew up near Dakota, and I still have a lot of family near there!

when I went on my visit to ISU, the professor I met with (and my eventual advisor) had his parents still living in Dakota and my relatives with me knew them. Apparently many of us in that area end up at ISU!

Cave Ale was my go to at Potosi.
