Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

On way back from blue earth, I took the back roads for the first time in a long time. Stopped at the cemetery where my great great grandparents and great grandparents are buried. Immigrated in the 50s. Then drove to the area they lived. On one of those signs at an intersection that tells you direction and distance, there is just an arrow that shows which way. I only know the general layout because dad showed me once or twice. It isn't a town, it's more a general area. Basically you have to know what it is to know you even found it. Only place like that in my area that I know of.

when you open your eyes and look in that area. You understand it a lot better. I wasn't pressured so I finally saw the area for what it is, actually a nice and pretty little region.

That's the way I was with the Field of Dreams. Didn't actually go there until I was in college when a buddy insisted on going (well, drive thru the parking lot), have never actually stepped on the field.

The final part of my part of Relay Iowa last year was the Field of Dreams. Got to run the bases a couple of times, get a nice video, and stomp on home plate for the big finish.

Took the puppy to the dog park last night, she tore part of her paw pad from playing too hard. Need to hop over to hy-vee or walgreens after work tonight to get neosporin and a bandage and see if it's something that will heal on it's own before booking another vet trip.

We use spray on liquid bandage for the cats when they have an owiee...it's medicated, and they're less likely to lick/chew it off. Just a thought.

BTW - that was vet recommended. We had an elderly male cat that would periodically develop fissures under his tail. If we caught them early, liquid bandaid helped prevent extra vet trips. Hard to bandage that region.

I made a vet appointment. There's a flap of skin hanging off and I don't want to be responsible for cutting it off, and if she needs antibiotics or anything to make sure it doesn't get infected. I kind of figure if I go this first time, they can give me their advice in case it ever happens again. The liquid bandage sounds like a good idea.
