@BoxsterCy Xgames are in Minneapolis and just saw a 38 year old guy doing bike jumps. Should pedal on down and give it a whirl. The guy looked like grandpa next to the 20 year olds doing it.
I was speaking to the next door neighbor lady that went to see it live. She was talking about that guy and how her main thought was, "This guy is really stupid."

Painted the baby's room this weekend. That turned out a lot pinker than I imagined. Need to mow and put together the dresser tonight and tomorrow night. Getting pretty excited for Oshkosh next week. @WooClone15 you have less than a week until you live in the happiest place on earth for a whole week!

It was definitely an Iowa commute this morning. After I followed the tractor at 5mph down the 1.3 mile narrow gravel road, I turned onto the blacktop heading up to HWY 30. Had to stop for a flock of Canadian geese spread across the entire width of the blacktop. Didn't want to honk because I didn't want angry geese making poop bombing runs at my car (yes, I'm speaking from experience here)...so I veeeeerry slowly creeped through, and they moseyed out of the way. Then a jackass came up behind me & hit the horn, HARD. Yup. Goose poop on my car now. I wanted to ask him for the money to get my car cleaned.

Drove across 30 with no incidents, took "Brekke Rd" up to old 30 because I had to make a stop in town on my way to work. Get about to the Barilla plant - semi coming toward me, semi behind me, and a wild turkey wanders out of the grass in the ditch, sees the vehicles, panics and decides to run across the road between me & the oncoming semi.. I brake, he brakes, semi behind me is still coming - I damn near got pancaked between the two trailers. Hit the gas and booked it past the oncoming truck and watched the near miss in my rearview mirror.

Stupid Turkey! And yes...I know that's redundant.

You really needed a deer and some cattle to go full Iowa. My brother still pheasant hunts even though he hasn't actually shot one in about 10 years, between his eyesight and fewer pheasants. He did hit one with his car about three years ago.

Our police/sheriff report in the paper is finally getting less fireworks reports but they are once again getting cows on the road and bat removal from houses. Our poor dog thought it was finally safe to sleep on the front porch again last night, and someone shot off a round of fireworks and we couldn't get him out from under the kitchen table for hours.

Turkeys have been everywhere this year. Other than the one doe with twins, we haven't seen many deer around our place. And she hasn't been back for a couple of weeks. I didn't mind her chomping off the leaves of the hostas at the lower end of the garden; I have plenty of hostas. But then one night she did a stroll through the entire length of the garden and ate every...single...bud on my Asiatic Lilies; about 20 plants, three-four bulbs each. Greedy beyotch!!! The only ones that survived were a few of the day lilies and the tiger lilies that hadn't budded out yet. My tigers are just now starting to bloom - and they're taller than me! I only got to see two Asiatic lily flowers before her gorge-fest, though.
I got a new kind of repellent that hangs about 2 inches above the ground and disperses to about 25 sq feet. It's working pretty well; she hasn't come back through the garden. It's not impacting the ground squirrels like it's supposed to, so Lew still takes care of them for me. :)

This is awfully similar to my last few days. I mowed, bought a refinished dresser for my oldest daughter and started painting her room this weekend. I'm looking forward to my guys' weekend in Nebraska next weekend (Yes. That is not a typo. I said that I'm looking forward to a trip to Nebraska).

There used to be a farm or something just north of Ames on 69 that had exotic birds. I was heading north and had just gotten up to speed when I came over a rise and there was a peacock standing right in middle of the road. I slammed on the brakes and slid to a stop with that bird no more than 20 feet in front of me completely unfazed.

My Great Aunt Dolly used to have a handful of peacocks on her ranch. They ran wild up around the house with several hundred inbred cats and a bunch of Spanish goats. We were allowed to collect any tail feathers that were on the ground, but couldn't pluck them because apparently peacocks get depressed if their feathers are gone. However, we were known to occasionaly scare one into flying over a fence (and maybe leaving a feather or two behind). :)

jcyclonee and I both live in the northwest burbs and work downtown. At one time they had 94 (N&S) cut from 8-10 lanes to 4 narrow lanes, lane restrictions on I-394 W, 169 closed S&N south of 394, ramp closed from 252 S to 94, lane restriction on 100 N&S south of 394 and ramp closed from 100 north to I 94 west --- all at the same time! I'm probably even missing some of the issues.

I did forget some issues. They had several ramps from downtown onto 94 N and 394 west closed and all of the Lowry hill tunnel traffic funneled into one of the tunnels rather than using both of them.

Also, with the Nicollet Mall construction they have every downtown E/W street restricted from 4 to 2 lanes except Washington because Washington doesn't cross Nicollet. So they tore that up too and had it down to two unpaved lanes from 4 with turning lanes.

I understand that the construction season is short here, but throw us a bone, will ya?
I've been riding the bus a lot lately. When I do drive, if I don't leave early, I've been crossing the river to Nordeast and taking Marshall or Central up to 694. There's problems there too as there is construction on Marshall.

Haven't seen it down here, what happened this time?

Shot a woman in her pajamas who went out to talk to them after her family had called 911 about a possible assault in an alley. Not in a bad neighborhood (within blocks of where we biked around Lake Harriet) at all and this time they gunned down an unarmed white Australian whose only mistake after her household called 911 was to approach Mpls police and talk with them. Never approach these crazy *******, never, just don't. Maybe it will turn out she was crazy as a loon but she was unarmed and the cop shot her through his car door while he was still in his car.

EDIT: They ain't talking much and of course the cops have lawyered up and haven't even been interviewed by investigators. What is being reported is the dead woman was the one who called 911 and was talking to the drivers side cop when the passenger cop apparently reached past his partner and shot her multiple times through the car door/window. You can't even make up stuff this crazy.
