My son (with some special needs) has for the third straight year gotten a teacher who is brand new to the school. The last two have worked out fine but Mrs. Velo is very concerned about this one. She said about two words to him at orientation the other night, and doesn't seem to have very many social skills for leading a classroom of fourth graders. She has a totally open classroom with the closest thing to a traditional setting being one low table with pillows to lounge on when my kid needs a lot of structure and reduced distractions to be successful. He had such a great year and connected so much with his teacher last year. I'm fearful that this year will be a disaster.

What are your schools rules on switching classes? Could you go talk to administration and ask for a switch to someone your more comfortable with? Telling them you'd like more structure for your son.

They are trying to do as much together as they can. Her parents have not worked since her second diagnosis, now they are with her 24/7. There is a blood drive coming up in her honor and her parents stepped away from being there so they could be with her. They had to tell her older sister on the first day of school. :( Earither this week she got to go on a hot air ballon ride, now she would like to do a horse/carriage ride.

Birdy I know there is a guy in Humboldt that does that, if needed I could find out who it is.
