I just had some leftover chicken noodle soup I made this week. It was a dang good soup, if I do say so myself. I make a cheeseburger soup that is pretty much a different twist on potato soup, that was our first soup of the fall. I love soup, but everyone else here does not share my affinity. Too bad, I am the one who cooks.
I make a lot of soups this time of year also. Made chicken noodle this past weekend, just in time for my daughter's oncoming cold.

I made creamy chicken wild rice soup last weekend. It went over very well with the fam. I need to figure out a way to make it easier. Chopping up the veggies small enough for this type of soup is a bunch of work. I do get to make a roux though and that's at least fun to say in a Cajun accent.

A pick up would solve your problem quickly.

Cool then I could join the ranks of urban/suburb people who drive around in a pickup with NOTHING in it's cargo bed 360 days out of 365 days a year. Most of the city people who drive pickups do not need pickups. And those that do, for their work, will have one that is twice as big and powerful as they actually need.

I don't like it either but my teenage not professional trainers are convinced that it is a way for me to keep weight on in addition to eating a bunch of eggs, protein powder, etc. I guess it helps some.

You should drink more red wine and eat more pie. ;)

Full Disclosure: I have been told for over 50 years by family and friends that I need to gain weight. The only weight I am going to gain at 66 is old man fat, no thanks on that.

When you own a pickup, everyone who needs something moved is your friend.

I see so many pickups in Omaha that have a pristine bed so you know nothing has ever been in it. Plus they make all these crew cabs which shortens the bed to like 5 1/2 feet. Pickups used to be a nice inexpensive form of transportation. Now they are massive luxury vehicles with a little box in the back.

Bathroom contractors just got here and were all excited about the 10-point buck rutting around across the street (pawing the ground, scraping trees etc). Meh, just a big shrub/tree destroying woodrat to me although I don't see many big bucks...just the usual herd of does and juveniles destroying all of the landscape around here. I pointed out the plastic trunk guard on my dogwood tree that the deer had almost destroyed last year scraping on its trunk.

Mine are chicken noodle
Vegetable beef
Potato
Clam chowder
and is chili a soup?

My vote is "not if you make it right"

It's about time for a large batch of gumbo for me. I don't consider that soup either, BTW.

Our usual coups are chicken and rice, egg drop, vegetable beef, clam chowder and lentil. I never knew what lentils were for the longest time until my wife put a bowl of lentil soup in front of me one night. It's become one of my favs now.

My wife does not follow recipes, so the soups are a taste adventure every time.

I don't follow any either and that goes for most things I make. Funny thing is, my wife is a good cook, but the girls always want me to do it.

Sorry I haven't been around much. Work projects have been hell lately and I am almost never at my desk. After long days at work I don't feel like I can neglect the family.

Here comes the dad brag:

I think I told you all that my daughter felt responsible for losing her school's conference championship game last season since the winning goal (that was way too high for her to have a chance at) was scored on her in the last 5 minutes of a tie game. Last night they faced the same team in the championship game with the tables turned. This time daughter's team was the 1 seed and the other team was the 2 seed so they got to host. Daughter played the whole game in goal as she has done throughout the playoffs and they came out on the right side of a 2-1 final. Yay, champs!

After time expired I immediately said to Mrs. Velo that I hoped this would let daughter get over last year's loss.

End dad brag

I took daughter, son and daughter's friend trick or treating Tuesday. I mentioned to friend that we should get them home so that they were well rested and ready for the big game Wednesday. I was floored when she said that she wasn't going; she was going to SkyZone instead for some other team party. Really? I realize this game was rescheduled from a week earlier due to weather, but how often do you get the chance to play for a championship?

They were one short on medals at the trophy presentation as it was so one girl who was there (came to very few games and literally no practices) ended up without one. I can't wait to see daughter's friend's parents raising a stink because their daughter doesn't have a medal yet.
