Good article, Hoiberg does "get it", and I think we are all witnessing a new era of college basketball and coaching in college basketball.

I realize it doesn't fit the storyline that many out here like to profess. That is, the Register and/or Randy Peterson somehow hate the Cyclones, so this might be tough to subject yourself to.

Nice article in today's paper...

He said the NCAA may tighten transfer rules. Why? Students transfer to different schools all the time. Why can't an athlete? Why make a player who has already graduated sit out a year? Oh, I know, because Iowa State is benefitting. Ok, I get it.

Why would anyone be against grads being able to go to the school of their choosing? I remember hearing something about an NCAA committee that was trying to extend this to other sports, but then it spun around and became a proposed restriction on basketball. Who is against grads being able to go where they want?

Talking heads. Funny they never brought this up before Kane, and now Jones. I doubt the NCAA will do anything to tighten transfer rules. Peterson is probably just hoping they do.

There should be no restriction on graduate transfers. A normal student who graduates can transfer to any school of their choosing to do their graduate studies. Why can't an athlete? This is silly that it is even being discussed.

The graduate transfer rule should never change, and I don't think it will. NCAA sends a terrible message if they don't allow players who have graduated to transfer to the school they desire, but allow players to play one season out of high school and bold to the NBA.

I think so. There was a few games he didnt play.

The troll isnt wrong, but honestly why even comment.

I think he was just suspended for team rules and it was never officially announced. My memory on it isn't great though.

Because he's tired of the constant Cyclone leaning slant that the Rag has been putting out there. He's even tried to organize boycotts of this newspaper and the sportswriters they employ. He reads every single article, everyday, just to see what new way the newspaper will slight Iowa and then runs to his favorite message board to tell everyone about it.

Pete has to start being more positive about State or he'll get his *** booted out of State. Fred is a movement, people will either join in or get left in his wake. EIU fans scratching their heads trying to figure out what to do.

This, I'm not so sure of. Hoiberg's not the first to utilize transfers/JUCO's; he's just the first to have pulled it off so cleanly. Guys like Huggins can employ similar tactics, but Hoiberg seems to really have a magic touch when it comes to picking up guys with varying degrees of baggage and giving them another chance. I'm not sure that can be replicated with any sort of consistency.
