Re: Rashad Vaughn

This, and this alone, is why I think Hoiberg would leave for the NBA. I couldn't stand having to deal with 18 year old kids playing games. All this back-and-forth and non-commitments is getting annoying. Frankly I'm sick of it. Make a choice and let's all move on.

If RV really wants to come here he should say it up front. If he doesn't he should tell us and move on.

Given the responses and reactions we've gotten from him, I still think there's a chance he's already a silent commit. I mean, the guy is going to tell Carol Hoiberg Happy Birthday if he's not keeping tabs on ISU stuff? Just seems odd to me

Re: Rashad Vaughn

So Vaughn was KY's 2nd or 3rd option. They missed on who they wanted, and are now "settling" with Vaughn. If I were Vaughn I'd be honored.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It sucks to be Baylor. That's what it means. No way they get a visit if he's down to KU and Arizona as options as well.

I don't think you add a school to your list and then not take an official there either, especially if it's Kentucky, but that's just me.

He's already had Iowa State and UNLV, and has UNC scheduled; if I were a betting man I would say KU and UK get the last two officials from RV. He's close enough to Arizona for an easy unofficial there, and the same with Minnesota when he goes home. Baylor... no one cares.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

In my opinion, nothing has changed. If he goes to KY he was never coming here anyway. No need for a mini-melt down. If anything this is bad news for UNC and KU.

I understand the frustration, I really do, but if it bugs you too much its probably better just to stop paying attention to it.

While I don't get truly not being able to make the choice yet, I understand allowing places to wine and dine you. People do this job hunting all the time. "Why yes, I will take a free trip, game, dinners, etc."

Or maybe, just maybe, the kid hasn't actually made his choice yet? Take your ISU blinders off and try to look at it as a teenage kid with no ties to any school, trying to make the best decision for his career while being pulled in a hundred different directions by people he's supposed to trust. I've never been in the position, but I imagine its not easy. Get off his sack and stop acting like the kid owes you a damn thing in the decision he makes for himself.

Managing a collection of entitled multi-millionaires with guaranteed contracts who are represented both by a union and their own personal agent and where you have only limited input into the composition of your team ... seems like that may come with its own set of headaches.

I don't think he owes me, ISU, or anyone anything. Not sure how you go that from my comment.

Probably this part where you imply RV is playing games by not committing already and if he wants to play for us, he needs to do it already or just tell us he doesn't want to and stop messing with us.

How do you know he is playing games? Are you privy to conversations he has had with the coaches?

A lot of people acting like petulent children today in regards to RV. You know you can always move on and stop following his recruitment if it bothers you that much.

In general I don't have a problem with recruits. What I do have a problem with is stuff like Vaughn and I don't know its really Vaughn but he seems to change which way he is leaning every day.

I think everyone needs to chill out. This saga reminds me of high school kids wondering if a girl/boy likes him or not and then overreacting to every signal whether it is real or imagined. OMG, she took 5 min to text me back...must be texting another dude(or coach). Fred is in control and I have faith he will seal the deal.

It seems to me that MANY of the top recruits signed in November. Vaughn seems to be one of the more "high-maintenance" ones: stringing everyone along by not trimming his list, waiting until February to take some of his official visits, not signing until the late signing period, etc. Obviously, Hoiberg is willing to take his chances and stay in the race, but it would've be nice to be able to commit our resources to other recruits.

So after being on 2 officials this year, he's supposed to up and make a decision without making other trips? He gets 5, calm the heck down. People's impatience is kind of annoying. He said in the beginning he's waiting until Spring. God forbid someone keeps their word and stays with their initial statement. For all we know there could be a silent commit and Fred told him to enjoy the visits, if not oh well. I'd advise you to stay off this board if this is going to bother you that much. You have a lot of months left in this race and you probably won't have any hair left on your head if you think this way. This decision may affect the rest of his life and man, why should anyone take their time on an important one?!? :spinny:

He could have taken his trips before the early signing period. He's visited most of these schools at least once on unofficials. How in the world are other recruits able to get this done and make their decision prior to the early signing period? I realize it's his choice to handle this however he wants, and we have no choice but to be patient, but don't act like there's no way he could have made this decision any earlier.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

If I got called up by Coach Cal as much as I hate the pr*ck there's no way you tell him to screw off. He's too prolific in the sport that RV loves. There's a big difference between committing to a school and making a visit to a school. He has said he's wanted to use all of his 5 officials so why not take one to one of the top programs in the history of basketball?

RV will not choose Kentucky in the end I can almost guarantee it. I actually think it's a good thing they're getting involved. It will make it that much more satisfactory when he doesn't choose them. Tease those ***holes Rashad. :)
I would say: "hmm, so I wasn't good enough the first time around and now that those other recruits passed, since you are the almighty Calipari and Kentucky I should just commit? No, thank you slime ball."

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Some people need reprioritize if this development bothers them too much. This kind of thing used to be common, but no one was too bothered by it before the recruiting was blazed across the Web and on Twitter.
