Re: Rashad Vaughn

Chris, do you have any vacation plans for mid-to-late November?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

never let RV fall from the top stories. quick reply to bump thread. What if he stops by CF and sees that we are only talking about football players during football season?!

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I doubt you will find a forum with a bigger Vaughn thread than this. But beyond that, I would be shocked if he gave a rats *** about cyfanatic. Too busy signing t1ts and kissing babies

97 pages with roughly 9 months to go?? Yeah, I predict about 175 pages by next May...lot of time to post new articles, twitter feeds, ask.fm answers, crazy speculations... I was also thinking yesterday that RV hasn't had any news lately and we need something to chew on again soon.

My non-existent source close to Rashad Vaughn says Rashad isn't interested in Cyclone Fanatic threads about him until "Rashad Vaughn v2.0" is 1,000 posts long.

And Rashad prefers b00bs over t1ts.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

If CFH can get Vaughn on campus right in the middle of the early signing period, even if he doesn't sign, you've got to think the other coaches from UK, KU, etc would be very interested/worried.

I think most people (people on here at least) agree that Vaughn probably isn't signing anywhere until May 2014, but if he's on your campus during a signing period...you never know what could happen.

No matter what happens, this is very exciting to watch unfold!

IIRC I dont think you can sign on an official visit, only commit.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think our chances on landing Rashad are solid. Really feel it is between us and Minnesota...

I don't think he goes to Minnesota. Most of the stuff we ready comes from Minnesota writers but I don't see him being the player to go to Minnesota to help turn their program around. I think that's the reason he's waiting til spring to sign is to see how everyone does this year

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Agreed. I don't think he is set on going to a powerhouse, but I am sure he doesn't want to go somewhere that has no talent. Minnesota is projected last in the B10 next season, lets hope that comes to pass.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Rashad keeps saying that he's considering Minnesota because he believes Pitino Jr. can turn things around.

But Pitino Jr is certainly not going to turn things around in time for Rashad...

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Regarding Pitino/Minny's recruiting of Vaughn...

PiPress Gophers Now @GophersNow Vaughn's camp hopes #Gophers would be able to surround him with talent if he stayed home. That makes early signing period huge for Pitino.

Appears to me the Gophers will need to pull at top 10 or 20 type class in '14 to keep RV in town.
Even then, I am not sure they will show enough this year to convince Vaughn they will compete at the top of the Big 10 his freshman year, even with a bunch of highly rated but unproven recruits arriving at the same time.

Could this mean our early signing period is important as well?

I think our season is important. If we continue to show that Hoiberg runs a dynamic offense that allows 4-5 scorers on the floor at once, high possession, high shot-attempt offense, and that Niang and Thomas and Morris are high quality players, get to the tourney, and hopefully rd of 32 or 16 - we should be in great shape.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

As for the signing period - I'm not sure that matters as much for ISU. The key players for Rashad's freshman year are already on the team - IMO.

Not as important IMO, it would be great to get a couple more top 100 players to commit to turn his head.
Remember though RV is already familiar with Niang's Game and I fully expect Matt Thomas and Monte Morris to show well this year and and complement Vaughn right away. Actually this is probably more important to gadge how the team will be in Vaughn's frosh year and competing for the BIG 12 titile. Freshman production is pretty hard to project in any BCS league and shouldn't be used to decide on a school, (see Kentucky last year).

Not only are you playing to win, you gotta keep your current team focused/happy and at the same time do things (style/tempo/wins) to attract your key recruits. Oh yeah, and there is the fans/boosters to worry about. Plus a million other things.

It's crazy but true - one win/loss or action at the right (or wrong) time can make or break getting a top recruit that is still a kid making big-boy decisions.

No wonder many coaches are so high-strung.
