Re: Rashad Vaughn

Minny fans can't believe Vaughn is considering ISU.....apparently Fred has to be paying players

All Things Rashad Vaughn Thread UPDATED 9/24: Vaughn down to 7, including MN - Page 85

LOL. Apparently to make it in the B1G you have to do things the 'right way'. MN and IA both quoting that as their mottos on their respective boards. That, and if you are doing well, you're obviously cheating...can't possibly be because you are a good program on the rise because of an excellent coach...no, that's just silly.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Well, just keep in mind we probably have the best coach in college ball. Now i know we have not won anything, but from a player's perspective, Fred is a homerun. You can have all the Roys, Bills, Ricks, you want, our Fred is the best.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

If Minnesota wasn't so obviously out of the running already, I would say someone should direct RV to that thread.

Academics, campus environment, how they like the facilities, a good environment, and a good basketball system. Not money, not personal coaches that follow them to college, not drugs, girls, etc. Guess that's too much to ask for though..

Nothing's really changed with regard to Vaughn since this summer, except maybe that UNLV became a possible player when he decided to go to Findlay.

People in the know always have said he'll enjoy the full recruiting process, take his visits, and in the end more likely than not end up at Minnesota. All this chit-chat is interesting, but what it really comes down to is the Gophers having an encouraging season and indicating that Pitino is a good coach. He'll keep UNLV and ISU on the list for different reasons, but unless one of them pulls a Seton Hall (which I suppose is possible with those two programs), it's very hard to see him going to one of these over Minnesota. UNC and Kentucky and maybe Kansas would turn up the heat this spring when it becomes apparent which guys are declaring, but by then we'll already have seen what Pitino can do and hopefully he's already committed here.

Next year's team is tailor-made for Vaughn, particularly with what we've seen out of Mathieu so far. We'll have two senior PGs, one of whom will be possibly the top returning player in the B1G. We'll have two 5th year senior centers. All our F's return. The only thing we're losing from this year's team is our 3 SG's. Hello, Rashad Vaughn!

Isn't this cute.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Also, this made me a little giddy:

"How about this recent note to stir it up:

I have a friend that works in the UM athletic dept. There is a rumor up there floating around that Vaughn cancelled his trip to Baylor because he has already decided on a school. They believe it is Iowa State. But again this is just rumors and hearsay so take it for what it is worth."

Re: Rashad Vaughn

funny how they think Iowa State is "paying" RV. If we paid players it would mean 2 things. 1) we would actually have money. and 2) we wouldn't have a cellar-dwelling football team that just got beat 71-7 because we could afford decent players.

Someone actually posted that in here a while back.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It's one thing to drink some Koolaid. It's another thing to ignore your own Minneapolis-based media persons. Amelia Rayno, the Star Tribune's Gopher MBB beat writer essentially said "it's over" for the Gophers over a month ago. Doug Wolfson repeatedly tells people its essentially UNLV or ISU, and reminds his twitter followers that "Rashad loves Hoiberg". Ryan James repeatedly says ISU is a real threat and will be there 'tip the end.

Those fans who still think he'll be a Gopher are living in their own little world.

Unless you want a coach that focuses on signs targeting a specific recruit instead of the game at hand who also is amazing at calling timeouts. Then you want Mr. Drew

This is entertaining. Here is his "person in the know".

In all fairness we have a lot of members on our board with that same bitterness at times on here too :twitcy:

Only toward Baylor. That's more of a pity party, honestly...how do you get that good of talent and still stink it up somehow. Baffles me.
