Re: Rashad Vaughn

So assuming Vaughn comes to ISU, because it seems like a pretty good shot...

Everyone says he's a one and done - but could you see him pulling a Marcus Smart and staying back for another year if we get close to a Final Four run so that he can get that championship? The kid is ultra competitive, but seems pretty coachable too...I don't think Fred would be so high on him if he wasn't.

Bottom line - I think there would be at least a SHOT at having him for more than one year. I know that Smart did something that is rather unusual, but I actually respect him for his choice. Would be nice to see more kids do that.

Either way, come to ISU, Rashad!

He's made it clear his plan is to be a 1 and done, he also said he wouldn't go to college if he could go straight to the NBA out of high school. Don't know if Smart said anything when he was in HS though

What's funny is how butt hurt Smart is about all the Wiggins hype.

I think a lot of guys say that though - but then look what happens when they go too soon. I guess my point being that if Coach says you could do better by staying a year, would Vaughn listen? I think he would, because Fred knows...but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I thought I remember him saying that getting his college degree was very important and was not his plan to leave early for the NBA.

Glad he wised up and realized he could pay his own way whenever he wanted to after his millions in the NBA. Best choice he ever made. If you have the option to go one and done and be a lottery pick, you'd be an idiot to say no IMO.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

A college degree is important no doubt but if you have the potential to be a top 10 draft pick compared to getting your degree in communications (stereotyping most athletes here) why wouldn't you go?

I commend Marcus Smart for coming back a year because he wants his school to have a Big 12 title and a run in the NCAA tournament. He put his university in front of his own millions of dollars he could be making right now. Not many 18 year old kids would do that.

Barnes said many times he wanted to get his degree and stay for 3 years.

Lol.

I knew Harrison and I can promise you all that he wanted his business degree. Education was very, very important to him. He was never going to be a one and done. North Carolina is a great basketball and business school. Had he wanted to be an engineer, I really wouldn't have been shocked if he chose to come here. His education is VERY important to him.
