Re: Rashad Vaughn

Trey indicated he is hearing we have cooled on Cunningham and putting all of our eggs in the Vaughn basket, but we will get a good player regardless with a transfer or Juco.

Cunningham would likely be a 4 or at least 3 year guy, but I wonder if adding McKay doesn't make him more of a great bonus than an essential. Also Hogue has now proven he can play much taller than his listed height and will be a beast next year. If we were to get him, it would easily be the biggest and most athletic interior we've had under Fred, even without him it probably is.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Vaughn is awesome and would be the go-to guy in the backcourt we otherwise will be lacking for next year.

I think by conference play next year Morris may be a handful getting into the lane and creating easy buckets for Hogue, Nader, Niang and McKay. Not saying I wouldn't want Vaughn, but we're going to have at least 3 really athletic finishers inside in addition to Niang who will be just about the most polished post player in the nation by then. Kane is great but I think the more experienced Morris gets he'll be even better at finding those easy baskets like Hogue got last night against GM.

I agree, I was just saying that trey had posted that he is hearing we aren't really recruiting him much anymore, but who knows. I took that to mean that attrition/year end ISU transfer was not expected and/or we feel good about Vaughn and/or we feel like our odds aren't great with him anyway because of our front court depth for 2014 and/or our immediate needs for 2015 could be better met with an experienced transfer in the hopper.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Since McKay and Nader are in the fold, with Hogue and Niang back, it wouldn't shock me in the least bit to see Hoiberg look for another big body guard transfer (Kane-like), if available that is. Not dissing Morris or Custer at all, glad they're ours, but there is a big difference in turning over the controls in our league.

Maybe the Cunningham to Bradley talk from a while ago was legit and he's leaning heavily that way and we're not going to waste our time.

I am guessing they are happy with the Edozie development and SDWs as well and know Percy wont transfer so told him if we have a spot after Vaughn we will talk and that could be why cunningham pushed back to spring (not just ISU but other high majors may have spots they don't know about now). I bet he is leaning bradley but they are his fall back since bradley will wait in him.

The Rashad Vaughn Megathread was one new thread posting away from falling off page one and we simply cannot allow that to happen.

Count me as not 100% confident Percy won't transfer. Since he didn't redshirt a year, he still has the possibility to sit out a year and still play his Senior year somewhere else. While I don't see too many major conference teams taking that deal, I wouldn't be surprised to see a mid-major take a flyer on someone with his type of body. He also has the possibility of jumping down a level (D2) and playing his last year immediately there. May be better than riding the pine a lot. Don't get me wrong, I'm not betting on him transferring by any means, I'm just saying that it isn't out of the realm of possibilities that he transfers for his final year of play. It definitely wouldn't take me completely off-guard.

I bet somebody transfers. No names...just somebody.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It's generally wise to account for some attrition after every season. Few teams make it a whole offseason without having one defection.

Wasn't the amount of players to transfer after last season like 350+? That's insane. Its almost too common and too easy, especially with all of the crazy waivers everyone keeps receiving.

Maybe, but seems like they cooled on Cunningham quickly after saying they hadnt after getting McKay (if that is true). So either he cooled on us first or they feel good about Vaughn and don't expect any attrition. I am just hoping it means the latter ;ç
