Very possible. Better to say that they are surprised than to let on that they know the answer as virtually anything they said after that would be analyzed to death. Definitely don't want to blow something by letting it leak early.

So here's what I've gathered from this thread the last couple of days:

Most who have followed Vaughn's recruitment closely think it's ISU, those who haven't think it'll be a blue blood just cause that's how it always is. The concern about UNC is especially hilarious given that he cancelled his free visit there the week after he announces. If he were going to UNC, doesn't it make sense that he'd want to take a victory lap around Chapel Hill as the big man on campus following his commitment?

If he chooses UNLV that will definitely happen. You can already see the groundwork being laid with the incredulity that UNLV is the biggest competition.

If we land Vaughn, you have to think it'll help our chances with Diallo, Ellenson, Davis, Illikainen, Johnson, etc. This is not only huge for next year, but for the future following that. Whether or not Vaughn leaves after one year, he would help us land one or two of these big time recruits listed above. I'm excited and hoping this is the little extra push we need to elevate our program to the top of the Big 12.

I have no belief that there is anything going on against NCAA rules directly with RV. I really dont think the staff would spend as much time on RV that they did if they thought he could just be bought out from under them. I am not saying that the Rebels run a squeaky clean program (I personally think of Dave Rice as a poor man's Ford or Drew) but I do not think they have done anything illegal in the NCAA's eyes. The two biggest things that the Rebels have had over us in the recruitment process is him living so close to campus and his relationships with incoming players.

I don't know, don't know how others feel but I won't be too upset if he goes elsewhere. Disappointed, sure, but not upset. If he chooses a blue blood, that's just the way it goes. If it's UNLV, it's a head scratcher but reasons ISU can't offer (location, etc, etc.).

Well obviously. It's not like if RV signs with UNLV Fred is just gonna toss his key to Hilton on Pollard's desk :jimlad:

Yeah, way too late for that. I've accepted the fact that I'll be a miserable person to be around for about 15 minutes after the nut punch (if it comes). Then I'll sit back and look at what we have coming back for next year and be all happy again.

Is this what Kansas fans feel like? It's unfamiliar territory...
