Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I will just say this cause it's a message board and that's what it's here for...RV has consistently said that he will choose a school based on 1- playing for a coach who can develop his game, 2- Where he feels most comfortable, 3- Where he can win and play for a NC. #1 is clearly not Dave Rice, sorry but he does less with talent than any coach in America. #2- Who knows. #3- Pretty clear ISU has a better shot here. If he picks UNLV then it's just been general talking points. Which is probably the case.

You just hurt Scott Drew's feelings.

If the kid wants to go to UNLV, then so be it.

If you want to showcase yourself against Colorado State, Fresno State, Air Force, and Cal State Fullerton instead of Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma State, etc, have fun with that.

But has anyone seen a UNLV game on TV this year? Meanwhile, Iowa State will have how many games on ESPN this year? Has to be close to 10.
I think they were on national tv once. Their loss at Arizona.

Unrealistically though. We were god awful with a bad coach, if he lived anywhere else he wouldn't have even considered us.
...or if his dad didn't play for us. I often wondered if an extremely high talented player (especially if they were going to be a one 'n done) why would they be so selective on where they go to college. The lesser of the team they play for, you'd think the better exposure vs. a team with a lot of similar talent. (ie. NC, Duke)

I kinda wondered that too. Why not go to a place like Northwestern and help them get to their first NCAA tourney ever. You'll never be forgotten then, unlike if you go to Duke where they will forget about you as soon as you leave and another 5 star player takes your place.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

The difference between Barnes and Vaughn is that none of us actually thought coming here was the best choice for Barnes. We selfishly wanted him because of what he could do for the program, but I don't think anyone thought (truly, if they looked deep down) that it was the best decision for him.

This time, I think we all truly feel that coming here would be a great choice for Vaughn and that we would be a great fit.

Nothing to read here - just helping out at #9686. I figure if RV reads all of these he will know the significance!

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

You think Derek Jeter, in his final year, wants to play for the Astros? No, he'd want to play on a team full of winners so he has a chance to win the title. Peterson dominated at running back two years ago so this year D's loaded up the box against him because they knew it was the Vikings only real threat. They shut him down. Being awesome and playing for a crappy team would be the same way - everyone loads up on RV because they know no one else is any good.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I am not going to be typical ISU pessimist here. He will be a Clone IMO. He wants to be a shooting guard in the NBA. Our coach was a shooting guard in the NBA. Plus runs and NBA style offense. It all adds up to me.

With that said, if he does choose somewhere else I wish him the best. We will keep our pass first true PG along with our stud returning forwards and a shooting guards that are coming into their own (not to mention 2 more transfers) and be better than fine. Win win either way IMO.

These "experts" who make these Crystal Ball "predictions" change their minds like a girl changes clothes. What a bunch of loonies just running all over the place with no idea what's going on.

Does anyone know what time/where/how/when Vaughn is announcing? I'm still very positive that it's us.

What he's hearing is most likely more solid than what people are posting on CF. He's going to UNLV people. Prepare for it.

Love the reverse jinx. I do it every game with the opposing team free throws. At some point I say he's automatic...then he misses.

Sad, but probably true. If so, I cannot say I understand it, but I hope RV dominates the MWC. Better that than going to the Big 12 or ACC or SEC where we would have to hear about it all the time.

Same. In my mind, it feels like we have virtually no chance. I'm just frustrated for the staff. They did everything they could. To think, what if he hadn't gone to Findlay?
