Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

Looking only at projected players for each team, ISU, UNLV, and UNC certainly seem to have the most favorable teams to walk into (considering PT, shots available, etc.). Or in other words, KU and UK make the least sense.
Agreed. I would put KU and UK's chances at zero. I doubt if either program has had any contact with him in some time. There is really no reason for them to be recruiting him once he announced that he would choose before the late signing period.

With that being said, I wouldn't be shocked if it was KU or UK. Very surprised, but certainly not shocked after time and time again seeing what these two programs pull off in recruiting.

I don't get it. I understand that Los Vegas destroys Ames in every conceivable way, but Coach dreamy, ISU basketball and the Big XII are all unquestionably better in terms of basketball. Does he want to party or play hoops? He could even do both at UNC. Why the running rebels?

Kaffey stands to receive a substantial paycheck if Vaughn commits to UNLV. Same as Bennett, Okonoboh and Birch's handlers.

If this isn't just you joking around then I question how this is legal.

How else would you explain the recruits UNLV has pulled in? If you are a top 10 type recruit, you can basically go anywhere you want in the country. Given that, start making your list of hoops programs in the country you want to go to. Anybody on this site have UNLV in their top 5? How about top 10? Or top 20? Hell, I don't know that I would have UNLV in my top 50 personally. What is the one thing they could do to move up the ladder? Toss some cash at the right people.

Wouldn't it be wild if RV appears out of nowhere in Hilton at half-time tomorrow to announce commit to ISU!

Or, ya know, have a campus in Las Vegas.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

I originally thought RV would choose ISU over UNLV because of exposure. There is no argument that he would be seen nationally 10 times more at ISU then UNLV,

However, if he does choose UNLV, isn't there an argument that, a possibly one and done player, would choose a school where the conference competition is weaker? And he can therefore put up the huge numbers that would get him drafted higher. The Big 12 is a grind and there is no guarantees he would not struggle at times. Just a thought.

This. I don't know about anyone else but I personally, really, really, really like going to Las Vegas. I think of it this way, if my job asked me if I could move to Vegas for 9 months and work while I wait for a giant promotion to open up I would say yes. Wouldn't be a bad place to kill some time.

As an Iowa fan, I hope Freddie gets Rashad Vaughn. There's no reason we can't have 2 good basketball teams in the state. Football? Another story :)

But I like Fred and I like this year's team. Getting Vaughn would be huge for you guys.

I've been to Vegas probably half a dozen times, it sucks. If your thing is prostitutes, gambling, and alcohol then go for it. It's a city with strip clubs, bars, and casinos on every corner in the middle of absolutely no where surrounded by hot sand. If that's your thing go for it.

Then you better be praying that he completely surprises the planet by picking the Hokx.

You should get a job with the Las Vegas chamber of commerce. You just sold me.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

Tom is right. He didn't move there for no reason. Most people don't move without a reason.

If you'd look more closely at the history, fairly common knowledge (at the time) was that Vaughn left MN because he was frustrated with being in the shadow of Tyus Jones. I am fairly confident that's why he held out this long to make a commitment - he wants to grow his brand, not be 2nd fiddle, etc.

The move to Vegas was more about getting out of MN and less about Vegas. Findlay is a big time program which just happens to be in Vegas. Also, UNLV wasn't even in on the Vaughn pursuit until he went to prep school there.

Vaughn may end up at UNLV, but the chronology of the process clearly indicates that he didn't go to Findlay with intentions of eventually going to UNLV.
