The one odd thing though, is winning the Big 12 tournament gets you more than winning a National Championship? . . .

Yeah, but dontcha think, if (when) ISU wins a national title, there won't be some whoop-te-do added on at the end of the season, in addition to the contract? Jamie ain't a stoopid guy. . . .

Trying to answer my own question. The Register lists his Fiscal Year Salary as $175,000, but his 'July Salary as $220,000

Why is it only a one year contract? Don't asst coaches usually have 2 year deals?

Looks like Otz actually took a pay cut compared to the last time he was here

My guess is if you hire someone at the minimum for a classification in state government and at the regents you don't have to have the justification approved for hiring someone. If timing is an issue it is much quicker to get someone hired at the base and send through a raise and or extension. One year could make sense given his aspirations or it could have been done with the idea they would start the ball rolling for an extension and or pay increase right away.
