All it takes is the right judge.
Even with the right judge they are just going to get some extra money, and not even major money at that. It’s a move they have to do and most likely already have the legal fees handled in house but this doesn’t really change anything except dividing up the PAC12s current assets

Mergers and acquisitions are stopped in court all the time. It isn't far fetched to think that it could happen here.

Do I think that it will? No. But let's not act like its a fairy tale, it is a possibility.

That’s not what the lawsuit is about though…

Not if Disney vs. Charter/Spectrum dispute isn’t settled soon.

I'm not sure it will. With the ongoing strikes, and the fact that Disney is being forced by Comcast to buy Hulu, Spectrum smells blood in the water. Now that ESPN has made comments about going over the top to its customers at some point in the future, Spectrum has decided to blow up the cable model.

If true, the last 2 standing have a path to the college football playoffs this year. Now that is a parting gift.

Who and what is the CAA? - I'm guessing they do not mean the Coastal Athletic Association.

Lets just assume that is a rule from the NCAA. Do you really think that ANYONE is going to stop an undefeated Big-12 Champion Texas or Oklahoma from participating in the playoff in 2023?

That’s not what it says, it just says they can’t name themselves conference champions or play in conference championship game.

Nothing to do with the playoffs.

They'd be negligent not to try, but I don't see these cases going anywhere. You could possibly argue collusion across the media companies and conferences, but I don't know that has any standing given the contract structures involved.

This will be an interesting case to follow. Probably the most common sense move that WSU and OSU have at this point. If they don't get invite to Big12 or ACC, then they can:
  1. Try to keep Pac12's status as P5 league alive by adding MWC schools. The MWC TV deal is up for renewal in a couple years.
  2. Make sure as the final two Pac12 schools that they have control of the conferences assets and make sure liabilities are resolved prior to other 10 schools leaving the conference.
It would be comical if Stanford & Cal settled for $8M a year in ACC TV money over the next 8 years while WSU & OSU split lets say a hundred million.

At least initially they should get a favorable judge. They filed suit in the county where WSU is located.

Sure, and they could very well win the financial assets the pac12 has. That doesn’t really change anything for those two schools, just buys them essentially an extra year of financial stability.
