It doesn't really matter what he has to say. What matters is if he can convince probably a player outside of FOX and ESPN to pony up enough money to remain competitive with the Big 12.

Now IMO that's not really much of a long-term solution, but might hold the conference together for a couple of years and prevent teams from immediately defecting.

It would probably be smarter for the Mountain schools to leave sooner rather than later, but I'm sure there's a certain level of resistance to making any kind of changes.

Lets talk more about all the Pac 12 tatoos Utah fans got so they could own BYU the last few years. Or lets talk about how Utah plastered Pac 12 signage etc. everywhere around the campus and town. What stage of the stages of grief is Utah in right now, denial?

Are you kidding about the stock price? If they can't meet the obligations of a contract, they're in a whole lot of trouble. It was no coincidence Disney was considering ESPN separation not too long ago. Interestingly, all these contracts are still hyperbole as none have really been settled and all this movement has been based, more or less, on vapor discussions. But, if the rumors are true ESPN is diving deeper into debt. Let's just put it this way, I in no way would invest in Disney now. I'll humbly eat crow if in 10 years ESPN is making the cash to pay these separation contracts.
I think this is the issue. ESPN seems to be of the mind that they can continue to outlay billions for media rights and they will eventually find a way to squeeze it all out and then some from advertisers/customers. I just don’t think the latter is true.

Expect sports weirdness in the future.

How many ADs were at B12 media day?
I’m just assuming every P5 AD attends their respective media days. I mean it’s football, it powers everything else. Plus it’s a chance to be face to face with the commissioner and the other ADs. I could be completely wrong though. Maybe it’s not uncommon for some to not attend.

I would have assumed this as well. If that is true, then only having 5 in attendance would be very telling. Especially if they are the ones you would guess given the current landscape.

A guy on the BYU board said that all 12 were there last year, so who knows.

I'm guessing it's not standard for ADs to attend most years, or else wouldn't we have had interviews with Pollard from Dallas a couple weeks ago? I would think most of them want to keep the focus on their football teams, or commissioners.

But even if it were normal for most ADs not to attend, given the Pac's circumstances this year, to show up for unity's sake would be a good idea.

I wonder if the streamers will see how long these contracts are for. If they are in that five year area, I could see them taking a PAC level situation, only issue would be the timeslots, so the big 12 would be more attractive, but take a cheaper conference to get their feet wet and get the situation rolling.
Honestly I think it would be a disaster if a streaming platform took on the PAC 12. Most fans of the own schools wouldn’t even bother to subscribe.

On a short term basis is what I was saying. Get a 3-5 year deal and work out the kinks at a lower price. Although getting a tier 2 of a better conference would be better, but they could probably get pac tier 2 very cheap.

Yeah I know for a fact this is pretty much all wrong. Disney isn’t going anywhere and will be just fine with these contracts. Trust me.
