Everyone enjoys predicting what the conference will look like in the next few years, but nobody has a clue. It’s all up to the money people at the networks. And to a lesser degree the university presidents whose only interest is in how much money they can get. Why else would anyone agree to the insane addition of USC & UCLA to the BIG. All of their fans hate the idea.

The only positive from my point of view is the hoks sitting towards the bottom of that conference every year. Maybe even lower than Nebraska.

You have a source for “all fans hate the idea” big ten fans are happy and from everything I’ve heard the Cali schools are very happy to be leaving behind the dumpster fire of the PAC.

Just internet chatter but it sounds like ASU voted no to expansion if it includes SMU. Rumors that they feel slighted by PAC leadership.

It's seems to me like putting cart before the horse. Why would you expand without having a firm media rights proposal in hand?

The Big 12 has proven a 10 team conference can work (and might be the best #).

Why expand before having the primary linear time slots firmed up? At this point Amazon, ESPN+ or whoever their streaming partner could probably care less if teams 11 & 12 are SMU, SDSU, Fresno State, Boise State or UNLV.

As a Big 10 person, when USC & UCLA were announced to the Big10, did you think that was the end of it?

It just don't seem like a good idea to have 2 teams out on any island called California. Obviously, those 2 brands are much bigger than WVU, but I think most Big12 fans would say they were an albatross for a decade.

Maybe the answer was the Big10 thought it had a shot at ND. Maybe the Big 10 feels USC/UCLA can make it work over 6 years and clarity will come in 2030. I guess not that different than the approach the Big12 took with WVU, which now has Cincy and UCF as ET zone teams.

It's a great move for the B1G, we'll see for the LA schools. They'll certainly get more money.

Agree. Only "power conference" examples in that span are SWC and "former Big East with football focus."
Tbh I don't eveb count the Big East. They just decided to stop sponsoring football and split from the schools who do.

SWC is the obvious one. The other was the Great West which tried to become . Everything else is sport specific conferences dying, mutual mergers, or spiritual successors

No more divisions. Hoks destined for obscurity. Iowa State has a better chance of making the playoffs than the hoks. Sorry to break that to you. Walmart stock will drop due to dwindling sales of yellow t-shirts with parakeet heads.

The only B1G fans I've seen against it are the "get off my lawn" traditionalists who can't understand why it's not 1985 anymore.

Was that their initial reaction? 6 months later I would expect most to convince themselves it’s a good thing regardless.

If you’re correct, and people have universally come around, it is easier for Fox to get Warren’s successor to finish the job. The Presidents can be insular but if most BIG fans are onboard, adding Seattle and SF trips as well isn’t too hard of sell

I agree they'll need to add a few west coast scheduling partners but USCLA added $$$ value, no other PAC additions will.

I think it’s a fantastic move for the LA schools. We’re moving from a power 5 world to a power 2 world, and they will be the only power 2 universities west of Nebraska/Texas. An absolute DREAM recruiting scenario.
