It's OK to pull for Bubu. It's OK to love Bubu. But I fear the expectations that some people have of the kid from practice and CCL reports.

Exactly - I would say the two big 12 championship teams had pretty decent talent, the Hoiberg Team was talented, every team that has been to the tournament has been talented..even this past years team was talented considering a first rounder and at least one other that will play some level of pro ball...love the enthusiasm, but lets see some results before we get too carried away...also discounting Utoff is really unnecessary - we wanted him, we didn't get him and so it goes.

Shoot id say the NIT final 4 team was pretty talented too. Stinson, Blaylock, Homan, Vroman, and ???

At the rate we hemorrhage players...I can't even begin to fathom a 2011/2012 lineup.

It seems the more hype a player gets in the off-season practice reports or leagues, the worse they perform when the action starts. I'd love for Bubu to buck that trend.

I'm very excited about the future but to say it's the most talent we've ever had is so over the top it's hard to comprehend.

IMO we never see Bubu starting for us. If we don't get one of the talented high school PG's we're after we'll go get a JUCO before next year.

if you really think bubu will start over scotty or dp, both seniors, im not sure what to think. we haven't even seen him play yet, don't annoint him as a starter yet. plus everyone is forgetting about elgin cook, who will probably compete for good playing time in his freshman year

How competitive was the CCL? i know when they first introduced it they mentioned some former DI recruits names but i dont think any of them panned out. Was this just a glorified high school state tournament? Or what was the talent level?

Plus Bubu put up those numbers because garrett wanted him to get some game experience in. Ejim will be good but does he start when Elgin comes in? I highly doubt it.

It's about that time of the year when people are over-hyping players based on the street ball Capitol City League then by the time the Big 12 schedule rolls around realizes they may have over-estimated their abilities. Alex Thompson used to look good in that league but we all know how bad he looked when it came to game time. Bubu hasn't even played a game yet we had a guy sitting out as a walk-on redshirt last year that is good enough to start in his 2nd season?

Seriously... let these kids play and prove themselves before we start annointing them for something they may not be.

Not very, it's unorganized street balls and a lot of guy shooting 3's that shouldn't be. Anyone who uses the CCL to judge how good they will be in conference play isn't using a very good barometer.

Let's not get completely hung up on whether a player is a walkon or on scholarship his freshmen year. Some of you might be old enough to remember Jeff Hornacek, who walked on at Iowa State and then started for 4 years at point guard. Lead the Clones to an upset over Michigan and a Sweet 16 appearance. Followed by a long career in the NBA. Ma be not fancy, but I will take him over every point guard that has played at ISU, including Tinsley. But he was not a scorer in HS and thus nobody was after him so ISU got lucky and he came as a preferred walkon.
So give you current walkon a chance. He chose ISU because he wanted to play there, not because ISU offered him a scholarship. That carries some weight with me. I hope he fools everybody and has a great career as a Cyclone and people will talk about how he lead first Ames High School and then the Cyclones to a championship.

I like Bubu a lot (never get tired of hearing "Bubu for 2" at CCL). He probably deserves a scholarship and I think he could maybe beat out Phillips for backup minutes at PG. Still, don't see how he'd be beat out Christopherson for starting PG that year.

you do realize DG put up 37 shots to get his 25 points in the semi final game right? So I wouldn't say that he let bubu put up those numbers.

Bubu will be a blowout game player only unless depth at the guard position becomes a problem.

Do you really think Scottie is ever going to be our PG? He's a SG...period...no "combo".

PG for that season...Odunsi (true point), Phillips (combo guard), Bubu (true point). I would expect Phillips to start, assuming all else stays the same.

Now...I hope we are able to sign a certain PG for that year to add more competition there.
