Probably not a huge surprise, but nice to hear...

@NYPost_Brazillle:
Hassan Martin has a top 4 of Rhode Island, Providence, Iowa State and St. Joes. Will visit all 4 in fall and likely sign in November. #boyshoops

Have to like the chances conssidering Rivals says he does not have offers from either RI or Providence....

This seems like a good time to remind everyone that RecruitLists needs as many clicks as possible. Help SvrWxCy - the more popular his site becomes, the better for him, and probably every cyclone fan too.

Martin is in the dictionary by the recruitnik/scout buzzword projectable. He's not that tall, but is young enough and has the arm length to think he may still grow. He shoots FTs like Chris Dudley. He may come into school as a freshman (like Eric McKnight) and we may think how could our coaches ever think he was possibly worthy of a scholarship. Or with some good coaching and maturation, he may turn into that 6'7-6'8" post player that becomes a huge star at a mid-major and you wonder why few power conference schools offered.

I know that describes most recruits, but I think it applies to Martin much more than most. And the risk of missing on a guy like him is not that big, considering the yearly turnover in CBB, and the post players we have coming back. I'm very content to take a project with our young bigs and the 2 stud guards we already have in the class. I hope we get him.

Battle of the Boroughs is going on in NYC this weekend... In which Martin and Whitehead are bothe playing in (possibly also Shane Rector, etc.). Zach Braziller just tweeted that Martin had 26 pts and was "sensational".

Plenty of other tweets about his play can be found. Sounds like as usual, he "punished the rims".

And Doc - I agree, he's "project-like" and at 16 yrs old, he could grow some yet.

Nobody will confuse him with McKnight. I will agree that they are both athletic but Martin has more basketball skill already. Still has a ways to go though.

Nice article on Hassan Martin from NY Post/ Z. Braziller about recent play (Adidas Super 64 & this past weekend's Battle of the Boroughs)...

Here's the non-mobile link: Staten Island's Finest: Curtis' Martin reps forgotten borough - NYPOST.com

Also, Martin's profile: Recruit Lists » Martin, Hassan

Interesting that he mentions both Rhode Island & Providence's coaching staff in regards to good relationships, hard to say if it really means something though. He has not visited any of the campuses yet, so I have a feeling that the visits are going to be key in his recruitment.

If he's considering coming all the way to Ames we must have made an impression.

This is like the 3rd straight time I've seen a recruiting article that say that we're one of the schools recruiting Whitehead the hardest, yet he has made no mention of visiting us. Hopefully me makes it out here for a visit.

Fred may have identified his next MattyIce to start recruiting for '15, he is visiting next month.

"One of the premiere talents in the 2015 class for the state of Wisconsin, Noskowiak hits the court with a strong 6-3 175 pound frame and a lights out perimeter stroke that he can utilize to take over the game offensively when he’s at his best. Following in the footsteps of recent Badger state sharpshooters like Paul Jesperson (Virginia), Matt Thomas (Iowa State), and Nick Fuller (Nebraska), Noskowiak seems primed to become a hot commodity in the coming years given his skill, instincts, and ability to put the ball in the basket with consistency from anywhere on the court. Noskowiak has also shown an improved ability to slide over to the lead guard position as well while displaying handles and an ability to create on the offensive end from time to time.

Noskowiak is also fielding early interest from Boston College, Creighton, Illinois-Chicago, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Loyola (IL), and Wisconsin among others.

Noskowiak has visits set up to Northern Illinois (September 8th), Wisconsin (September 15th) and both Iowa State and Northern Iowa (September 29th)."
