2013 SG Matt Thomas finished with 19 points to lead Onalaska (WI) to a 57-47 win over Rice Lake (WI).

2014 F Rashad Vaughn had 24 points & 9 rebounds to lead Cooper (MN) to an upset win over Park Center (MN) 79-69.

2014 Reid Travis had 34 points last night to lead DeLaSalle (MN) to a 72-61 win - Travis has taken an unofficial visit to Iowa State (Jan. 28 for the Kansas game) but Iowa State has not offered at this moment.

Also, USC head coach O'Neill is expected to watch 2013 PG Monte Morris tonight in their championship game. USC has offered Morris.

Watch out for USC. :jimlad:

UNI or Drake should definitely offer him. I'm not sure if he's really higher level, but I would not be mad if we offered him for Basketball. He seems like a polished Bubu. He does seem to be a higher level football recruit though (invited to ISU and Iowa's junior day, I'd say he's likely to get offered by atleast one of them).

I could agree with that comparison. He would be a good back up plan if we dont get our main targets.

I think he's a better football prospect personally.

After what I saw this afternoon, he must be an elite football talent.

He has the talent to play BCS-level DI basketball, especially if he grows an inch or two. Great handles, change of pace and direction, body control, hops and defensive stopper mindset. He also had a surprisingly solid outside shot (though he needs to work on his form). He essentially held his own with Paige, including at least two swats off of on-ball defense of Paige.

Yeah the scouting report on him is that he's really athletic and good at both football and basketball. He'll most likely be a BCS level football player, I have my doubts about basketball though. Seems like he'd be a good player for Drake or UNI to go after.

2013 PG Monte Morris had 20 points, 8 assists & 3 rebounds tonight for Flint Beecher as they won their district final by an 88-59 margin over Hamady (MI). USC head coach O'Neill was in attendance...

Story from thurs nights game; Onalaska vs. Rice Lake. Thomas was only 6 of 15, being guarded by U of Minnesota recruit Wally Ellenson. Sounds like they "overplayed" Thomas, and he and his team were able to find the open players. He did score 16 of his 19 pts in the 2nd half, and most importantly, they got the win. They face Antigo today at 2 pm.

Socha shines bright for Hilltoppers in sectional semifinal win

A description of Morris' style of play and strengths. As I've mentioned before, Morris doesn't get a lot written about him (nationally), but the Michigan prep guys all seem to think he's vastly underrated.

This following was found on an MSU website, possibly written by rivals: 2013 MSU Basketball Recruiting Hotlist - The Only Colors

Monte "Man Man" Morris
Ht: 6’1
Wt: 175
School: Beecher High School (Flint, MI)
ESPN: *** No. 20 Point Guard, No. 99 Overall
Rivals: Unranked
Scout: **** No. 50 Overall, No. 11 Point Guard

Morris’ lack of national rankings are deceiving. I think most observers would put him close to the top of the Michigan point guard food chain right next to Derrick Walton. Whereas Walton is known for what he helps others to do with superb court vision, Morris is acclaimed for some serious "with the ball" ability such as an impeccable handle moving around the court. Morris also carries a solid frame and should mature into a quick player strong enough to bang with bigger guards. A recruiting angle to watch is definitely how MSU and UM play Morris along with Walton. Who does each coach respectively prefer? If Walton chooses UM, Morris could be your next MSU point guard.

of interest (at least to me) is the mention of his "impeccable handle" (yes please), and his "solid frame". From pictures and videos I've seen, I would have thought of him as being somewhat slight - not a problem, as he's got time to grow/ fill out. Nevertheless interesting to hear them say he's solid.

Monte Morris is a guy I really want. Seems like a "pure" point guard who can break down a defense and find the open man.

Some updates from this evening:

Alex Kline reports that Alabama & Wake Forest are now showing interest in 2013 F Steven Haney (St. Thomas Aquinas, FL).

2013 SG Matt Thomas had 24 points (22 in 2nd half) as Onalaska (WI) wins 62-38 over Antigo (WI) per AAU coach.

2013 PF Maverick Morgan had 18 points to lead Springboro (OH) but lost 50-48 to Withrow as his last second shot went in & out, people at the game regarded his last second shot as Laettner-esque.

Lastly, came upon an addition to the 2013 List (tip via madcitycy) - Recruit Lists » Watts, Denzell
