Thanks for the comments... I feel lost without keeping track of things. I should at least be back to posting here and there as we get back into the sports seasons!

I'll echo others' comments here. I'm tremendously happy to have you back! Thank you for all that you do.

We missed your posts. I whole heartedly agree with Louisville being the overwhelming favorite for Jaylen Johnson. We still stand a legitimate shot to land him though.. JP Macura looks like is a Minnesota lean.

I believe Jarvis Johnson has the best chance to commit to the Cyclones out of the lot of them... The next Cyclone great possibility, Rashad Vaughn.

More catching up... 2014 Jaylen Johnson has obviously become one of the top targets in the class.

Johnson took unofficial visits to Michican and Michigan State earlier in the month, but has also set up his official visits list.

Iowa State - Sept 13
Louisville - Sept 20
Oregon - Sept 27
Florida State - Oct 4

Louisville is the favorite at the moment...

Just curious what we would do with 3 potentially top 100 pgs that would all be underclassman and all "true pgs" in Morris, Custer and Jarvis Johnson? For this reason I dont think we get Jarvis. Coach, style, sister factor all going for us but he may not want to compete for minutes like that all 4 years.

I see your point, quite honestly your absolutely correct about getting minutes as a freshman. The fact that his sister attends Iowa State and that he has fell in "love" with the campus, makes me think that his commitment is nothing more than a formality... Could be wrong though, but I doubt it.

Is this in a story somewhere?

Would be cool if he was down to redshirt, but I never expect that in basketball. I'm sure Fred can find a way to get them on the floor though. Definitely not the position I would target, but talent is talent.

Play this scenario. There also is the likelihood that we strikeout with all the fore-mentioned recruits. Then what do we do?? We shouldn't worry in that situation. Coach Hoiberg and Coach Sadler would go get talent via the transfer and JUCO crop..

Can never recruit too many talented point guards.
Well 13 may be too many ;). I agree talent is talent but I am trying to think from his perspective. Sure we would take him, I was just questioning whether our incoming pgs may influence him.

I have always disagreed with the notion of you can never have enough talented Point Guards. When a team is stacked at the PG position, then a talented point guard is not going to get the minutes he thinks he should deserve, and will defect! How many guards have we had transfer in the last few years?? The proof is in the pudding.. You should have a balance with front court and back court players. Period.

If that point guard defects. That means we have two better point guards. I think you take the talent you can get and fill in the positions you can't. Ie juco.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about landing Macura.

While I understand what you're trying to say, Macura is pretty talented. There are others that I want above Macura (Vaughn, Johnson, and Travis) but I wouldn't be angry if Macura chose us by any means.

Ryan James@RyanJamesMN 1h In addition to Tum Tum, JP Macura, and Alex Illikainen visiting Minnesota for the football game, Reid Travis will be there, as will others.

It will be a huge day for Gopher basketball recruiting Thursday as Amir Coffey will also join that group of recruits

Kinda suprised they would choose a Thursday game when the Vikings are playing a presesaon game in at the same time at the Metrodome to have all the players visit. It won't be the best atmosphere at TCF.

I don't understand why anyone would ever want to play for Richard Pitino if they're that good. Minnesota is going to be an absolute joke in basketball for at least the next two years. Hopefully Macura, Illikainen, and Travis are smarter than this. It seems like Pitino is trying to swing for a home run immediately with recruits instead of gradually recruiting a little better each year. Sorry, but if any of these three recruits pick Minnesota, they're idiots.

You sound just like a fan from any blue blood school when they're talking about Iowa state. Naive, foolish, and cocky. Not sure if that's a bad thing though.
