Maybe Ames is at a higher altitude?

Anyway, I would have liked to have seen us continue recruiting Cook. I think he'll be good and I'm cheering for him after the rough end to his high school.

I've read good things about Cook. There must be a reason.

I've said this before and I will say it again, Abdul-Malik Abu is an athletic specimen that needs to be our top priority for a big man. He is most certainly going to be courted by some big name schools. Hope we can get him!

He already is. But I agree, would be a huge get for us.

I agree that Abu should be a should be a priority target for us, and it appears the Fred and the staff agree by keeping in constant contact with him throughout and with being one of the first programs to offer him.

I was actually more encoraged about his quote about the team that we can play with anyone. It indicates to me, that Abu has been paying attention to the program over these past couple of years and is buying into what the staff is selling.
(Now I am currious about how the staff is sitting with Jared Terrell. It was rumored last summer they could end up as a package deal. Just typing out loud)

That is exactly what I read some time ago as well. That Terrell and Abu would almost cetainly be a package deal...

It seems like these "package deals" start out looking likely, but as the recruiting process goes on, eventually kids realize they have to find the place that they find the most attractive, and that often isn't the same place they buddy likes.

I would guess that these two will end up separate like most, because Abu is getting better looks from blue-bloods, while Terrell is getting little to no looks from them

Maybe we could use that to our advantage

A good question would be, would we trade Vaughn for Abu and Terrell if it came down to it? What an amazing decision that would be.

I would be ecstatic if it ever came to that decision because either way it's a win win. But as Iowa State you take the first talent you can get and I doubt we'll picking and choosing between these guys, but with Freddy at the helm who knows . I would be extremely happy if we even get one of these guys to commit

Update on Vaughn, he is visiting NC for the Duke game (it has been verified on twitter)...

"Smith took in the Robbinsdale Cooper-Maple Grove playoff game on Thursday night with former Wolves coach Flip Saunders. Smith badly wants Cooper junior guard Rashad Vaughn. There's a chance Vaughn takes an unofficial visit to North Carolina for Saturday night's game against Duke."

and a tid bit on Reid Travis,

"Smith's top assistant, Ron Jirsa, was expected to see DeLaSalle junior Reid Travis on Thursday night. Of the entire Gophers' staff, Jirsa has the best relationship with Travis, another player Smith wants badly. Iowa State and Vanderbilt are expected to make football scholarship offers to Travis in the coming weeks. He's a standout quarterback."

Not sure if Travis would like to play both Football and Basketball, though an ISU offer for football offer couldn't hurt...

They won't all respond at the exact same time so it probably won't matter.

Would we as fans rather have Travis play football or basketball for the Cyclones if given the choice and had to choose one? Which sport is he a better prospect in...I'm guessing basketball since that's what he gets more publicity for but I honestly don't know.

If he is an amazing QB, easily football. We have been in desperate need of a good QB in a long time and it is the most important position on the field. Somebody has to throw the ball to Lazard. I'm also not worried about Fred signing other top talent in basketball.

He would be really stupid to play football over basketball, he's a top 40 recruit for a reason.

Watching Jeremy Morgan on channel 20 in the state semi's and man I wish we would have got him, perfect player for Fred's system.
