Hmm. Is a head coach allowed to continue to coach his team after the season is over?

The best part about that is the way the guy interviewed Vaughn. He was homering it up all the way. Basically asking to tell him how great Ricky Jr is as a coach.
Some sites try to keep it professional and get an overall feeling of how the guy is thinking. This guy basically was giving it his best shot to recruit him. Pretty funny

What's your plan in a couple years if he chooses to go to Chapel Hill, North Carolina or Waco, Texas? Will you go with?
We arm wrestle with that. I'm a father of three -- have a senior at Cooper high school, and I also have a sixth-grader. Minnesota has been good to me. I'm originally from Flint, Michigan, but been here about 16 years now. Been working for Hennepin County for about 15. So, we'll see. As I tell him with everything, let's be in the now. Our real focus is getting my senior situated and getting Rashad taken care of, and also having fun with my sixth-grader. He keeps me on my toes.

If he ends up going to Baylor, I would be shocked. They would have to be giving him something because coaching can't be why he would choose them.

as far as Rashard Vaughn, joe dooley taking the head job at FGCU may be a blow to their chances, as Dooley was the lead recruiter for kansas towards Vaughn

I'd be extremely surprised if Vaughn went to KU with their recruiting class this year. Of course, we always say that about UK too but that doesn't seem to matter to recruits. I still think it comes down to UNC, ISU, UMN and Florida. That's just my opinion though.

I agree that this is his list of "real contenders". Ill be surprised if its not one of those four and I really think MN is 4th of the 4.. I believe Fred's genuine personality and style of play will give us a very real shot at landing RV.

I was listening to local radio in Mpls right after Hoiberg turned down the U of M coaching job, Darren Woofsen reported that Fred and the staff has made major progress with both Reid Travis and Rashad Vaughn. It was his opinion that if Hoiberg would have taken the job both would have committed to the U of M. So yes I do agree ISU will stay in the competition with above schools to the end.

I actually found the audio clip (I am really board at work)
March 29 Judd and Dubay 2-3 minutes into hour 3.

Does anyone know why we aren't recruiting these kids? They are both top 10 post players from Milwaukee.

Kevon Looney - Basketball Recruiting - Player Profiles - ESPN

TJ has a great Wisconsin connection. We have had Lucious, Diante, Godfrey, and Mike Taylor all from Milwaukee. Then Scott, Thomas, and Antwon Oliver from Wisconsin also. Granted the majority of the guys we have signed from Wisconsin are guards, but still I just don't get why we aren't recruiting these two players.

You are my new source.

My sources say we are one of the top 4 for Vaughn. Honestly people that believe they know are as stupid as that.

I've seen his name a bunch. Either there is something they don't like in his game (doubtful) or they know they have no chance from the get go, so why bother.

Yeah I would assume that we showed interest early and they shut us down. That's the only reason that makes sense why we wouldn't be recruiting them. Especially Looney.

I wouldn't read too much into that interview. I don't think he would say he doesn't like the new head coach of his home state's team and **** off all his friends.

Plus the answers that elude to style of play and run and gun offense.......um, we led the nation in 3's and were top 5 in scoring. He eludes to he wants to be on a type of team that we are. Plus relationship with the coach, which how can you not like Fred.....just saying, we have to be top 3-5. You can use me as a source now. ISU is in Vaughns top 5

Looney was the one I was referring too. I followed him early. Not sure on the other one. But seems to be no interest anymore.
