I get the feeling this will be the case with lots of guys. Prohm is a very active, hands-on, recruiter.

I would say that is one thing that is refreshing to have now. Hoiberg was a big name but it was no secret that he wasn't exactly a fan of recruiting.

Simpson to ISU, Charlie Moore to Illinois, squawks strike out and sign a 2 star in state PG.

Ha ha hilarious and so true. Fran would literally throw the keys to the car at a stud freshman PG next year and still can't land one. Love Xavier's game. A year or two of maturing and some extra muscle he is going to be a stud. Hope we land him.

Agree. I love having a coach that seems to embrace the art of recruiting. Don't mistake that for I didn't love having Fred as our coach.

Be careful. We haven't landed Xavier and Iowa is still technically in the running.

Have held back so far but can no longer refrain! The speculation is a waste of time - saying you want a kid as an ISU commit means nothing if he cannot jell. The team will be what it is when Prohm gets who he wants - every kid mentioned here is a good baller - otherwise you wouldn't talk about them. I want a Final Four with a little luck a National Championship hanging at Hilton. Screw Diallo and the other fakes who say bs all day - when they are in uniform then they are worth my time. GO CLONES!

Having a HC who is a true college coach will be nice. He's a good recruiter and he's a disciplined coach who coaches defense. But he's also adapted to offense and even had Fred help run his Murray St. Offense.

Don't get me wrong Fred was obviously a great coach, but it will be nice for all these guys Fred developed offensively to have more to learn and focus more on D also. I'm not saying Fred will still coach from Chicago by any means, but he will still be connected to Iowa State and someone Prohm can regularly talk to.

If we are as good as we should be, and land some of these recruits along with some transfers/jucos there's no reason Prohm can't continue and have more success. Fred used Iowa State as a stepping stone, but thanks to him we are in a position to be one of the best and stay there.

I just hope Fred left behind a copy of his playbook, or can get one in the mail to CSP before the regular season practices start.

I heard Fred didn't even pack his stuff, he was in that much of a hurry to get out of Ames. :jimlad:

All coaches coach defense but some do it better than others. Prohm didn't really do so great at coaching defense at Murray State.

We played great defense last year-about 30% of the time.

Another 40% was meh and another 30% was bad.

Having a bunch of returning players is more important in continuing Fred's concepts than a Playbook.
