Not a Cyclone recruit but Martez Walker is a kid we had looked at and he has committed to Texas. He's 2013 and we never offered but it looks like Texas isn't recruiting like they are accustomed to.

I stand corrected. It looks like we had offered. We haven't been mentioned with him forever and I wouldn't doubt that offer was "expired". In fact I would bet many dollars on it. 2013 was obviously full

Does offering Josh Cunningham possibly mean that we're now looking for other 2014 Small Forwards? Meaning that Rashad Vaughn, while he can still be a "target" of ours, is probably going to end up in a uniform that's not cardinal and gold?

Like I said yesterday, the staff is putting in work and this time it is a big.
Dorian'sPride@DoriansPride 23m Florida St, Oregon, Memphis, Missouri, Texas A&M, Maryland, Iowa St, Miami, are new offers or heavy interest for 6'9 2014 Jaylen Johnson.
Jaylen Johnson - Yahoo! Sports

What's up with him? Currently a top 100, tons of big time interest, but no offers?

Custer has been on board for a while. So if you assume one scholarship is ticketed for a big, that leaves one for a SG/SF scoring wing player. We have all ready offered a number of guys that fill that role before Cunningham, so I wouldn't read too much into it. Fact is we are assuming there are only 3 spots for 2014, which may not be true for numerous reasons.

I think it just means Fred isn't putting all his eggs in one basket by only putting out one offer to one of the most talented players in the class. All while neglecting to recruit a different yet very talented "like position" player.

I wouldn't read anything into it like that. You make multiple offers to multiple positions.

Yes, Vaughn will likely end up elsewhere but I still wouldn't completely rule out ISU at that point. If a kid like Cunningham wants to commit now to ISU, the staff probably accepts it and they move on from Vaughn.

I'd say yes. We have offered quite a few forwards in the 2014 class. I believe we will keep in contact with Rashad Vaughn and recruit him a lot but I don't see him coming to ISU. My money is on North Carolina... As for Noskowiak, I'm glad he committed now instead of drawing out the process and still not picking us. The staff can change their plans accordingly now instead of later.

Yeah, that's cool for Monte.

Anyone know why they have a discrepancy with their actual grades from last year vs. this year. I kept expecting it to change, but assuming these are final Niang with a 94 was ranked #56 vs. Thomas with a 87 at #51 seems odd. Espcially given the fact that everyone says this year is loaded vs. last year.

Note: Responding ESPN is dumb isn't an acceptable response.

Espn changed their whole scale to try to separate all the recruits more and widen the distribution of grades given out. No real reason other than to make it a more normal distribution.

Hey, there's a real response. Thanks.

Couldn't find the old scale, but here's the new one I guess.
Grading scale - Men's College Basketball - ESPN

Too bad they didn't go back and adjust previous years.

ESPN is not dumb, they are just not playing with a full deck of star cards.
