Maybe the staff backing off Macura means they feel good about their chances with Vaughn. They're obviously going to do everything on their power to land him.

Oh man, I really REALLY hope we land Vaughn. Even if the chances are low, I will be pretty bummed if we don't land him.

The addition of Doc Sadler and his JuCo connections will be a great back-up plan if we swing and miss on the high school recruits we are still talking to.

Swinging for the fences is great except when you strike out.

With that said, under Fred we'll make our hay between the middle March and the end if June when the transfers are deciding, and that's not changing any time soon

That would be the hope...
More likey the Staff told Macura the reality that playing time at the start of his career would be limited due to next year's roster. He has already been told he can get playing time at Minny, Xavier, and Creighton, which is one of his major goals. It makes sense to end the courtship now rather than just go through motions.
Silverlining, it allows the staff to focus on Johnson and Cunningham next weekend, and of course Vaughn for the rest of the year.

I was hoping this was the year that our imaginary pipeline in Minnesota became reality.

RV would go a long way toward that but I still worry that if he doesn't make an official to ISU and he visits 5 blue bloods he'll be wowed on an official

I agree with this. I also would like to add that if we were to get Jaylen Johnson we would definitely have a Michigan pipeline established. Minnesota has an exceptional 2014 class with their "Big 4" recruits (Tyus Jones, Rashad Vaughn, Reid Travis, and JP Macura) but Michigan constantly has great recruits coming from it.

I'm curious how having Nader and Georges as juniors in 2014 will affect the possibility of landing Johnson and/or Cunningham. They will take a lot of front court minutes from those guys' first 2 years. Maybe Cunningham can play the wing but right now he's still developing that part of his game.

Just sayin'. Other teams probably have very similar situations.

RS Cunningham a year if we land both.

I'm stealing that avatar when I get home, as should everyone.

Oh no! Sounds like a soul crushing disappointment is building for many if RV goes elsewhere.
