I think if Nixon is as good defensively as they are saying that could go a long way to improving the team's defense. They need a guard that can D up the opposing team's PG and not let him get in the lane. I think Conditt's development will be huge as well for defense. If he can be a guy that plays 25-28 minutes a game next year that will certainly add a great rim protecting presence.
Great point. I like that Prohm is emphasizing D, but you have to have the players who are committed to it, and, at least a few key ones who are playing quite a bit and doing it well. Nixon is supposed to be great at D on the ball (#1 key for good team D), which will be huge, and having Conditt play lots of minutes will help too. This should pick up the rest of the players as well. Unfortunately, we didn't really have the good/committed-to-D players this past year - I never question Jacobson's effort (he was the only consistent effort on D last year of the core players), but guarding big posts is not a good match for him. He'll be better w/ Conditt or Solo beside him some of the time and with Nixon pressuring the ball.
