I hope Prohm can make some progress in getting his players to play better D. I'm not bashing him for that, I'm just skeptical.

I think if Nixon is as good defensively as they are saying that could go a long way to improving the team's defense. They need a guard that can D up the opposing team's PG and not let him get in the lane. I think Conditt's development will be huge as well for defense. If he can be a guy that plays 25-28 minutes a game next year that will certainly add a great rim protecting presence.

Yeah, our defense (at times) broke down out top, which triggered help that got everyone out of position. Keep that man in front of you in the first place, and the whole defense gets better.

My hope is next year's teams has a TTech-like mentality on defense and while the talent ceiling isn't as high, they have less droughts and play more as a team. We've seen what teams who play really well together can do.

Hearing tomorrow...

Have fun on your vacation!!!! (Even if it is just an overnight stay at the Adventureland Inn).

Btw I raced at your old stomping grounds last Saturday night and was disappointed there was no statue of you as I entered the grounds.

Great point. I like that Prohm is emphasizing D, but you have to have the players who are committed to it, and, at least a few key ones who are playing quite a bit and doing it well. Nixon is supposed to be great at D on the ball (#1 key for good team D), which will be huge, and having Conditt play lots of minutes will help too. This should pick up the rest of the players as well. Unfortunately, we didn't really have the good/committed-to-D players this past year - I never question Jacobson's effort (he was the only consistent effort on D last year of the core players), but guarding big posts is not a good match for him. He'll be better w/ Conditt or Solo beside him some of the time and with Nixon pressuring the ball.
