Had a good feeling about both commitments today. Christian Young is just a solid player with few flaws from what I seen. The staff seems to make Texas a priority this year. Even better is the are getting players from texas that are not just over looked players. Young welcome to the cyclone nation.

But I'd love for Campbell & Co. to beat their own record on this guy next.
Still haven't landed (and kept) that coveted 4* player since 2016.

What would make this a really special class is if they can get a commitment from Joey Ramos. Ramos and Downing at guards and Ross at center and we have the makings of a real kick a** offensive line.

No its not..don't think he's being recruited very heavily by many P5 schools anymore..things have seemed to drop off a bit for him.
The one thing I have noticed with this staff's recruiting is they are getting guys that don't need to spend a redshirt season in the weight room bulking up. Seemed like under the past several coaches we'd get guys that needed to bulk up and would not contribute till they were juniors but look at this next class and we already have 2 guys that are 290 and 300 lb on the OL and some defense backs with some height and size as well. Campbell's staff put some OL in the NFL at Toledo and now they have the benefit of recruiting to a power 5 conference to boot so hopefully that translates into some solid recruiting classes were we see more guys as true freshmen contribute in the 2 deep like we did this past season where this staff recruited them in a short time frame.
With the shape this program has been in lately I have always thought that we'd have the benefit of being able to offer immediate playing time to top prospects so why not aim high and see if you can steal a few guys away that might have to sit out a year or 2 at a bigger program but immediately challenge for a spot on the 2 deep here.

Any idea as to why we stopped recruiting him? When the initial 247 rankings came out for the 2018 class he was right up there with Waggonor as being an elite level prospect coming from the state of Iowa. I guess its possible, but you'd think it'd be kinda rare for a kid to drop off that much in one year.
Seems like a pretty high percentage of kids stay committed with a verbal so it does mean something.
I wonder what it's like to go through life always looking at negatives and being pessimistic regarding everything.
