before anyone clicks this I just want to point out that Randy is a ******* idiot and the DMR pays for this poop.
He was billed as one, though.Donovan wasn't a PG though

Choosing a different situation is not being afraid. I hate this go-to response when kids go somewhere with better opportunity for PT. People say it all of the time but were never recruted to see it through their lens. So, he was afraid he wasn't good enough to get playing time because we signed a JUCO...Got it.![]()
This is very true. Donovan was terrific in the role he had his first year on the team. You could tell he struggled a bit in year two when he had to be a main guy and play a lot more minutes.Donovan actually fit that first team better than Xavier could have. We needed a shooter off the bench to keep the floor spread for Burton and Monte.
When Monte came back for his senior year they thought hard about redshirting Donovan. He was coming in to take over the PG spot.

Oh I thought Donovan was a tremendous shooter throughout his two years in a Cyclone uniform, I just thought him being that spark off the bench was where he fit perfectly. It's quite obvious that he had to start his senior year, but I thought he was a bit of a liability on the defensive end at times.Donovan also broke his wrist the season before his junior year.
Part of it was to be 100% after the injury.
We also had Nick coming off a RS -- he turned out to be a pretty good PG.
He had his ups and downs as a full-time starter, but he is still one of the best shooters in school history. He was excellent as a bench gunner, though.

Simpson is really good, but I think we were fine during this era -- for the most part -- with the combination of Morris, Naz, Matt, Weiler-Babb, Jackson, and Haliburton for the 1-2 spots. You can always use more talent, though.
