I'm predicting he starts all season, averages 20mins, 10pts, 5 boards and 2 blocks.

It also means that Hogue and Nader will see much more time at the 3, we'll go "small" (3 guards) much less than the last couple years, and that McKay is a bench-energy guy.

This is a really big deal, the team just got a ton better. I would be surprised if we didn't score more next year than we did this year. The team is just loaded.

Are you serious? No way. Unless he gets a lot better by the time he gets here. He is going to need some time to develop. I think he may be a redshirt candidate.

I will respectfully disagree. If he's that good as a freshman I'll be freakishly surprised and pleased.

“As an elementary school student in Greece I started playing basketball having a dream, a big dream, for a country boy from a small rural town named Katerini.â€￾ Tsalmpouris said. “I hoped that one day I would be able to cross the Atlantic Ocean and playing basketball at a big university. Today I feel blessed because my dream came true on the best possible scenario. I am joining the Iowa State basketball team. I am so grateful to Coach Hoiberg and Coach Abdelmassih who recruited me and gave me the opportunity to learn from the best and contribute to the future success of the Iowa State basketball program.â€￾

Sounds like we won't have to worry about him not making to campus this fall.

So, did he seriously commit to us without making a visit or having any coaches visit him?

Tell you what....if he scores 10 in a game his freshman year ill chew off my other foot...not designated for SDW when he scores 20 in a game (Which is an absolute lock bet now BTW)

Good offer, glad hes here....he needs development to play at this level....certainly not playing right away.

I'm guessing the NBA scouts vouched for Fred and his reputation is probably known at this point among the Greek pro guys too

If he's good enough to start, that would be awesome, and surprising considering how solid our starters are. I love how Morris came off the bench, and earned the starting position, and hopefully GT can do that as well.

Somewhere in the U.S.
Excited to see him play, and to see how he can develop after a couple of years with Niang and McKay. Hope he makes it to campus and is not a Lucca situation.

I'd be ok pulling kids away from European pro opportunities. Year after year.

had to sign by wed or spot wouldn't be guaranteed (end of signing period) likely worked in our favor.

He's 7'1", athletic, can run and shoot the 3. In Fred's system, that's good enough to see floor time. You guys are seriously undervaluing his skillset.

Hope we call him "el Greco" because he's an artist in the paint.

I love how polarizing all of the "expert" reviews on this board are. Some say he'll break the starting 5, others say he won't see the floor his first year.

And all it's going to take is a single statement from Fred for 90% of the board to switch their opinion to whatever he says

Actually obtains you should keep your head down. Helps with making proper contact I've heard.

Will do! :jiggy:

Awesome news. I can't wait to see him play. It will be nice to have a big with the length to protect the rim and the ability to draw a center away from the basket due to his perimeter shooting. Georgios is a player that can create match up issues which is perfect for Freds system. I can't wait to see how Fred utilizes and develops his talent.

Well sure....HE actually determines who starts. Until i hear hes playing....im sticking with that the kid...while very talented..is a very very raw 17 year old who needs some development, and that his impact in year 1 will be pretty limited. But im very glad we have him....he could be nasty.
