He'll be in the Osage room about 2 hours after he gets to town. It'll be nice for that program to get a much needed boost. (Good for Joel, he seems like a great kid. And good for Osage. That community and school have built a helluva program. As the dad of a wrestler at another, much less powerful TIC school, I'm just jealous.)

The Sukup family has done more for athletics at ISU in the last 15 years than any single donor or group of donors I can think of. The most encouraging thing I've seen lately was the pic of Dresser at the Vikings game with the Sukups. Getting them on board at even a fraction of what they've done for bball and football would be a huge boost for the wrestling program.
Great point I recall seeing that picture as well, lets hope the message is getting received loud and clear!!!

Osage needs a boost? Why? Future recruiting classes not looking as strong?

All but about 5 or so teams would take our 125 room in a second as long as they are healthy and in good standing. Sure if one of the top 5 guys want to come our direction without breaking the bank sure I would take them.

I disagree here. There isn’t any top talent. Having guys in the 12-30 range does little for you in March.

I agree with the rest of your post. There won’t be a ton of transfers. It’s silly to think that. Hope we can reel in one on the top end but it’s going to take $$$.

Not exactly sure.
This is what I want to understand, where do we stand? Are we indeed light years behind or are we starting to pick up steam with the resurgence of the program. Is it a combination of wealthy donors backing said programs, more alumni support necessary?

Does JP like to see "x" amount of "organic" support before he comes behind and fully pushes the chips in? SEZ took Sukup's to jump in to push that through, CMC has early success partnered with TV money and now CyTown is a reality. Is it similar to football in keeping up with the "standard" within the conference or those you are competing against on a national level? Yes we are not in the Big 10, but if we are to keep up with Ok State and Missouri, one could argue we may be slipping to them, atleast with Ok State and their recent facility upgrade,
It comes down to how to get the most bang for the buck. ISU donors are dirt cheap so JP has to look where he gets the return. First is football. Then it’s men’s basketball. Those two are the only programs that are in the black. The rest lose money. So he has to take care of those two in order to help the others.

Never underestimate Dresser and his fundraising ability. What he has done with the CRTC and fundraising is amazing. Housing is a big part of that.

Dresser is creative in his thinking and seems to not be set in his ways for an OLD guy!

I'd add Yaraslau Slavikouski to the list, don't know Yongers plans but he was the 6 seed from Harvard. I am thinking we will be in the conversation.
Good catch as I didn’t realize he put his name in the portal back in Jan.

No one is happy with a 11th place finish but going out and trying to buy wrestlers at every weight that doesn’t return an AA is extremely short sighted and the best way to ruin a program and spend all CRTC money.

There is only 2 portal guy that I know of that we should reach out to in Nevills and Messenbrink. That is if Messenbrink can make 157 for a year and then bump up.
Are 125 room is not good. Kysen can beat a stud then lose to a hacker. Just needs to be better

I'm guessing he is going to graduate after this year so he got ahead of the game for the 2024 season, I believe Ivy wrestlers cannot wrestle as grad students.
Yeah Ivy League is 4 years to compete, no redshirts. I don’t get how Yianni was able to stay for 6 years

This is 100% true.
I spent 15 years in a minor capacity raising money for ISU athletics. Our fans are cheap.
We had, maybe still do, fans hoping our NIL effort failed because they don’t like it. I do not like it either but that does not make it go away. I know for a fact our expectations do not remotely allow us to compete with most P5 schools.
