One of the more horrendous examples of a reply all mistake.

"A man is suing the San Francisco DA’s office after losing his job because of an accidental 'reply-all' email.

Jovan Thomas, 56, filed the complaint Friday, six months after the scandalous correspondence in question.

In it, the trained victim advocate appeared to ask the married district attorney 'what color' her panties were, before profusely apologizing in a follow-up seconds later.

Both messages were sent to the entire office, with the staffer's full email signature."

My company had a big replay all storm for 52,000 (basically US only folks) of its ~200,000 employees a couple weeks after the first COVID lockdowns. Some genius thought it’d be funny to add Europe and APJ in the mix so it got up to 120k+. It took about a day to resolve and calm down and I probably got 9-10k emails lol

Was the "some genius" a "friend" of yours?

I don't underestimate you causing it on purpose to make a point about "reply all."

I believe all people who annoyingly abuse the reply all function should be fired.

My favorite is the ones where it's clear the person doesn't know they could just select 'reply to sender' and their reply is some weird question that shows how much they struggle to handle things themselves.

Or you’re in a meeting where someone is sharing their screen on a big screen and then private DMs start popping up in the corner of convos they’re in that are super inappropriate or awkward.

“What happened there Dave? Your screen went black and we can’t see your spreadsheet?” “Uhm… not sure. Must be having some computer problems. Somebody else care to share their screen instead?”

No, I am not that evil. I hate the reply all function just as much as everyone else...

Or did I? :otz:

It's sad day that this is all it takes to get someone fired.

lol. This is funny.

The reply all saga is real for those in the corporate world. Here is how it usually starts.

The IT department sends some email out to the entire 5000 person company. The first idiot replies all with a question. Then 230 idiots reply all as well.

Then come the biggest idiots. Who think they aren’t idiots because they are pointing out the other idiots. These, the biggest idiots, reply all and literally say, “PLEASE STOP REPLYING ALL!” These idiots are the worst. They reply all to tell others to stop replying all. They suck more than the naive emailers who started the whole mess. They only make it worse and they suck.

Seems like we have at least 1 of these kinds of emails every year at my place of work. Someone inadvertently adds a distribution list to the email which then goes out to thousands of people that were not the intended audience and the result are a bunch of "please stop replying to all" emails which ironically is just what those people did. I've always said anyone that does that needs to be flagged for when they need to cut some staff as people that can't handle a simple task of ignoring or deleting that email or just replying to only the sender then they probably aren't that great at their job either.

Nothing cheers me up more after losing a loved one than being asked what color panties I am wearing.

I think you'd be better off just being fired than making the claim that this was the reason behind the text.
