The rest of the Big 12 needs to band together and just boot UT. I'd rather have less money per school than face the peril of going to the Mac or something.

I think this is true.

I agree that this is the only negotiation play I can currently see. The last go-around, the networks were the ones fighting to keep the Big 12 together and not much has changed since then. Therefore, it still is likely in the best interest of the networks to keep the Big 12 together, meaning this could possibly be an overall play to get them back to the table. However, if this is the play with the networks and the goal is ultimately to stick with the Big 12, I'm not sure adding the instability talk back into the public is the smartest way to go about it for all parties involved.

Explain it to me. What actual advantage would someone getting for leaving. The Big 12 as a whole may not bring as much in as the SEC but splitting between 10 vs 16 makes the difference negligible.

I’m not saying stuff isn’t happening but it would only be happening because Texas is run by absolute morons just like Nebraska.

Also I’m not worried because Iowa State will be fine as streaming is the factor and we are good at football.
To say you are in the SEC. Like I said, not everyone is trying to find the easiest way into the college football playoff and that's what some of you think this is about. Some of it is about trying to position yourself for what you think college football will look like in the future. Money is what it's all about.

A Big12 conference without OU/TX and adding BYU/Cincy is a dying conference.

Better start accepting death then, because that’s what’s gonna happen if OU and Texas leave. ISU and the other 8 schools will form some kind of American conference unless the ACC, Big 10 or PAC 12 wanna expand

Who else in the current Big 12 even has the option of leaving? They don't have to worry about instability because the 8 other schools aren't going anywhere unless forced too.

Am I the only one that thinks in 25 years conferences won't be a thing any more? With the TV rights going the way of the Internet and how easy it is to Travel. It seems like teams can just schedule teams every year that make them the most money.

I think we just all need to take a deep breath. (If this would even happen, which is low), this isn’t old Iowa state we’re talking about. We’ve put ourselves in a favorable position to land somewhere good.

I think this is in response to the Big 12 not having a big TV contract ready to go.

If the SEC goes to 16 or 18, then maybe the other conferences follow? I guess then your division is properly sized at least.

Count me in the camp of people who are incredibly sick of this being a topic seemingly every year. In some ways, I hope everything does blow up as that may finally stop the annual realignment garbage. ISU seems to be in a good position to land somewhere attractive - AAU, new facilities, large and loyal fan base, etc, etc, etc

The way TV is consumed has changed greatly since the last go around, as has the prestige of ISU athletics.

Iowa State and schools like it NEED the conference for negotiation purposes...
