Maybe. Just maybe college football isn't all about who holds the trophy (Alabama or Clemson) over their head.

Maybe college football is about relationships. Maybe it's about local rivals and next door neighbors giving each other good natured grief.

Maybe college ball was (was) special.
It’s almost like “the market” doesn’t solve all of problems.

I think the lawsuit makes it quite possible the Big 12 stays together without OU and Texas. Again, find a partner for BYU(of similar stature) and we're fine. Especially with lawsuit money. And all the "new league" would need is time. Time for people to watch the games and realize it's a good league. And time for some members to ascend to the top and replace Texas and OU. Like US!

Yeah, ok, but I would prefer ultimately to go the BIG or PAC routes. 10 years of near constant uncertainty has soured the 'Big 12' name for me. Get the $$ and get a nice soft landing is the preferred route.

This whole affair does point out once again the need for some sort of football or P5 commissioner. The NCAA is a useless tool.

ESPN became the commissioner and negotiated these deals behind the backs of everyone not essential to their needs rather than with a college football commissioner who would have been responsible for all the parties, not just the blue bloods.

It's similar to schools negotiating their own apparel contracts. It leads to the Ku-like nefariousness. Here, we have planned the destruction of the B12.

The uncertainty is leaving. The only preferable outcome is a Big Ten invite.

The Big6/Big8/Big12 kept ISU football around for 120+ years...just biding its time...for the one time ISU was a top ten team.

As the prophecies foretold.

also decentralization solves NIL, you create a closed loop system, university sets the bid/ask, players make money, university collects the spread to cover their costs, university can control on and off ramps, university sells to advertisers, advertisers give to players, players convert to currency, university give to players, players convert to currency

Absolutely. It was special because we all had a passionate interest in our own teams, which connected that passion to the greater whole. Exclude all but the "elite" teams, and most of us lose that connection.

Do we know legally, is Jamie currently allowed to be speaking to the B1G?

Yes, although under the bylaws he might be required to report it to the conference. But all the schools can talk about where they will be in 2025 right now.
