Still thinking the most likely scenario is this:

75% Big 8 + 2-4 of the best available schools (once you consider AAC or MWC as your other options)
20% B1G
5% PAC

FWIW, my personal preference is strongly B1G followed by PAC as the top option would be devastating for ISU. Just feeling like all the “fantasy conference” talk is way too optimistic. If I’m wrong, I will be ecstatic and I’m ready for JP to work his magic.

After getting ISU to where it is in football, and at least some excitement around the basketball program, if I were Pollard I'd take at least a solid day of drinking when this **** started up again.

Sorry I hate using the dumb response but I just think there's no way in hell usc jumps to the Big 12 lol. Also tamu is too proud to run from UT now. Our best bet is to hope for big ten status. Last and worst case is inviting Houston and company...ugh please not that.

What exactly is holding USC to the PAC-12? Location and regional partners, 2 factors that simply don't matter anymore. The Big 12 (with OU/TEX) has a greater payout than the PAC-12, now guarantee USC 1.5 times that, and plus power to be the elite of the conference. The PAC-12 already knows they have a time zone problem as most of America is asleep before their games finish. I'm not saying it's likely, but USC is definitely in play for someone, the whole PAC-12 is, but they are the most valuable.

If the Big 12 is essentially dead, what harm is there in playing offense as you die rather than sitting and hoping for a miracle. Be aggressive, be creative, and shoot your shot.

It's pretty rare for a very successful coach to move to another program in the same conference when he could easily take a marquee job in another conference.

I don't know about Beard given he's a UT alum, but it makes Kim Mulkeys jump to the SEC make more sense.

Possible, I'm not sure about her either. She's from Louisiana, and I would think if she got wind the Big 12 was headed for doom, she would've tipped someone off at Baylor? Idk

I'm thinking that the days of simply dividing a total payout by the number of schools is going to end. Why should the SEC, if it is driven by the schools in it, pay the same to Alabama and Vanderbilt? You might end up with one school (Bama) getting $100M per year while Vandy gets $40M. I definitely could see that as being a stipulation to membership in the BIG. We are far from the drawing power of OSU...why should we get the same allotment? But, that is for the conferences to deal with.

This has NEVER been an issue in the SEC. They all recognize that each school contrubutes in different ways: Alabama - Football, Kentucky - Basketball, Vanderbilt - Academics and Baseball, Ole Miss - Miss Americas, etc.

They realize that EVERY school needs to be viable for the CONFERENCE to be viable. Texas and OU (to a lesser extent) are in for a big ole culture shock. Alabama has NEVER, EVER tried to pull the "We deserve more money" game.

With B10 money ISU could start baseball up if needed in a year. Again, it’s like 90% football, 5% academic profile, 4% men’s BB and 1% everything else.

And hockey, as weLL as the requisite women’s sports to compensate.

Probably the cutest thing is that some haven’t learned since the 2010 re-alignment talk that every other sport that’s not football doesn’t matter in the least in these talks, regardless of how good they are or how much history they have.
